Chapter 33

*Conner’s POV*

I stormed out, leaving her in the house before ripping into my wolf form. For some reason everything that had happened back there just had gotten on my nerves. Call it jealousy, call it anger management issues, call it moodiness, call it ‘dude you had to fight with her sometime’, call it whatever in the world you want, I don’t care.  I just needed to get out of there. (<- :D it ryhmes!)

I tore through the woods, going nowhere particular, feeling better with every stride I took underneath the woody canopy. That’s when tiny snowflakes starting falling down from the grey sky. My strides became shorter until I stopped altogether, watching as they slowly drifted down. The quiet peacefulness of the woods calmed me down even more as more flakes slowly drifted down.

I stood there for awhile, enjoying the peacefulness until my muscles ached from staying in the same position for so long. Not wanting to go back to the house quite yet, I decided to just keep walking in the same direction I had been and see what I could find. After doing this for ten minutes or so, and contemplating going back, I saw a small house come out of the shadows of the trees. Curious, I approached cautiously and jumped back as someone opened the front door. It was-Leah?  She stepped out onto the porch, only to turn around and give someone inside a kiss and merrily went to her car and drove off.

Now I understood. It must be that house Zevi mentioned he was moving to. He was exactly what I needed right now. I slowly approached the door (still as a wolf, seeing as I didn’t have any clothes; not that it would bother him) and by using my paw I gently tapped the door, trying not to break it. As expected, Zevi answered and a big grin spread across his face at the sight of me.

“Well well, big bad wolf please don’t blow my house down!” he joked.

I transformed and threw them on saying “Thanks.”

“No prob.” He said before gesturing me inside. “What’s up? Trouble in paradise?”

Was it that obvious? “Yeah, you could say that.” I said flopping down on a chair. “Nice place you got here.” I noted, liking the cozy feel of it.

“Yeah. I like it.” he smiled looking around. “Not to mention the bedroom is pretty good too.” He said, winking at me.

I just shook my head, smirking. “So,” he said, getting back on subject “what’s been going on?”

“Ah man, a lot of things.” I said running my fingers through my hair. For some reason it wasn’t as satisfying as when Tara did it. “Well we got a kitten, Tara broke my arm, I had to convince her she wasn’t worthless, the girls have been fighting and now me and Tara had a big fight over Embry.”

There was a moment of silence before Zevi let out a long breath. “Wow man, that’s got to suck.”

“Yeah.” I said, not knowing what else to say.

He leaned forward and said “well that’s life I guess. Not all unicorns and rainbows. Got to have rough spots.”

“Yeah I know. It certainly isn’t easy.” I sighed. I looked up and saw that it was almost three already. “Ah, man I should probably go. The kids will be home soon.”

I stood up as Zevi did and we gave each other a tight hug. “See ya round. Hope things get better.” He said.

“Same for you.” I smiled before going back into the snow that was falling much more heavily now.

Zevi looked around. “Finally! I’ve been waiting around for this stuff since like, forever! It was really late this year.”

I nodded. “See ya.” I said, giving him a mini salute before running back home.
