Chapter thirteen

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, I did nothing but worry. I didn’t avoid Teddy as much because I needed him, for information. I had to know just exactly what his parents knew about me and I wanted to know how I needed to act in their presence.

“Just be yourself” he said, shrugging.

When I raised an eyebrow and gave him an ‘are you serious’ look, he sighed.

“Okay, so don’t be yourself completely…just be a toned down, sweeter, more polite version of yourself” he suggested, looking uncomfortable.

I nodded, accepting the fact that he probably thought I was an aggressively rude little douche.

“So your mom’s name is…Viveen and your dad’s name is Callow. And you guys are the Hewitt’s…uh your dad is an architect and your mom is an interior decorator. Your mom is the human one, right?” I ask, checking.

He nodded and eyed me warily.

“Look, stop worrying. You have nothing to worry about; everything is going to go perfectly” he insisted, placing a hand on my arm in a comforting way.

If only he had known how wrong he was.

The day before Thanksgiving my nerves were practically fried. I couldn’t even stomach an ounce of food, which made Teddy go all ‘nurturing mama bear’ on me. He tried to coax me to eat but nothing worked, if I ate a single bite of anything I would throw up, no question about it. He finally gave up after a while and left me alone after I snapped at him.

To add insult to injury, Fevah had been calling me all day long. It had finally gotten to the point to where I had to just shut my phone off. I knew Fevah was home for Thanksgiving and it hurt that I couldn’t see him, or even talk to him. I still wasn’t ready to confront him yet. Soon though, I promise myself.

I didn’t get any sleep at all that night. I just ended up watching TV to take my mind off of what was in store tomorrow.

I somehow dozed off and when I finally got up it was already three in the afternoon. I scowled and stomped off to the bathroom to take a shower and do all the necessary things that needed to be done. I can’t believe Teddy let me sleep all day.

Once I was showered, I made my way to Teddy’s room to choose what I wanted to wear to meet his parents. I held my towel tightly to me, seriously hoping he was not in his room. He wasn’t. I quickly slid on my bra and underwear then covered myself with the towel again, just in case he barges in like he always does.

I have never been one for dressy clothes so my options were limited. I knew I wasn’t wearing a dress, besides I would freeze my butt off outside if I decided on a dress. So I slid on a pair of dark washed skinny jeans and dug around for a shirt, effectively ruining Teddy’s neat folded stacks of clothes he folded for me. I smiled devilishly, take that Teddy.

I pulled out a white tank top and pulled it on, then found this dark blue flowy top. It was pretty cute and made it seem like my boobs were bigger than they actually were so that’s always a plus. When I was finished dressing and putting on lotion and a small pair of earrings I made my way back to the bathroom to do my hair and makeup.
