Chapter 39: I think we lost them

Tris POV

It feels like we've been running for hours until coldness meets my back.

"Uriah guard the door. Christina and Evelyn-" Someone interrupts the conversation. "Mother..." "Fine, Christina and Mother come hold Tris on her side."

What are they doing to me?

"The chip is right here we just have to take it out."

I still can't move or see anything but for some odd reason I can hear, everything.

The room goes silent for a minute until I hear Tobias.

"Hold her still and make sure not to move."

"I'm sorry Tris but this will hurt."

What is going on?!

A cold hand rests on the back of my neck.

What are you doing?!

I feel a pinch then a slight pain. Something moves around inside the back of my neck.

"Anyone have tweezers?" I ask.

Why do you need tweezers? What are you doing?

"There's some on that counter over there."

The cold hand leaves my neck as the pain overtakes its presence.

Not to far away from me a few guns are shot.

What the hell is going on?

"Hurry up!"

The cold hand is back and something jabs into the back of my neck causing more pain. It's bearable.

Someone picks me up and places a bandage on my neck.

"Common guys we need to go now."

My body bumps up and down as the person holding me runs.

It must be Tobias.

It feels like forever until Tobias stops running.

"I think we lost them." It sounds like Uriah talking.

"We need to find a way out of here."

"It looks like the exit is up there."

"Stop right there."

Tobias' body turns around.

All I hear is a gun shot but it takes my mind a minute to realize exactly what happens.

My body slams into the hard flooring. Pain spreads through my left leg near my ankle. I hear Tobias grunt and a few more guns are shot. My leg fills with pain.

I just lie there waiting for someone to pick me up, then it happens, someone picks me up.
