Chapter 4: Fake Smiling

Kenzie's POV:

A tear runs down my face
"Kenzie, is everything okay?" Brynn asks
"Yea, everything is fine" I reply
"Are you sure?" She asks
"Yes, I'm sure" I say
"Okay, you better not be lying to me." She says with a grin

I nod my head. Then position myself to where she can't see my phone screen.
Then I turn on my phone, and go to my texts
"Chloe, you wouldn't do that" I send
"Oh, yes I would, Hog"
"Chloe..."
"One more mess up like earlier, and it gets posted"
"It's kinda sad that you have to blackmail me so I don't roast you again"
"That was the biggest mistake of your life, hog"

Kinda regretting my decision,  I shut off my phone, and try to enjoy myself for the rest of the day

"Everything okay, Kenz?" Brynn asks

"You just asked me that like 2 seconds ago" I say rolling my eyes

She laughs.

"Is Kenzie staying the night?" Ashlee asks

"Oh ya! I forgot we planned that tonight!" I say "I don't have my stuff though..."

"That's fine! I'll drive you to your house to get your stuff" Ashlee says

"Thanks" I reply

We pull up to my house and I run in and grab my stuff for the night, and tomorrow

Pjs, a change of clothes for tomorrow, my earbuds and charger, and my laptop and charger.

Also a toothbrush of course.

I dash out of the house without saying bye to my mom.

"Let's get a poppin!" I say enthusiastically, getting into the car

Brynn and Ashlee laughs.

We pull up to Brynn's house and run upstairs into her room.

I instantly open my laptop and go onto Cliqstr

I put my face into my palms.

"What's wrong Kenz?" Brynn asks with a concerned look.

She crawls over to my laptop and looks through my feed

"Awe... Kenz it's okay" she says, pulling me into a hug

"No, it's not" I say bawling into her shoulder, "What did I do to them?"

"Nothing. They just like making others feel bad" Brynn says

I grab my laptop and go to the photo Chloe posted of me at the theater and read through the comments

"Ooooooo Kenz"
"Hoe"
"She finally got a guy. An imaginary one"
"She can't even get D from her dog"

I shut my laptop and shove my face into Brynn's pillow

"Come on partner, it's ya birthday. Have fun!"

You know what? She's right. I decide not to let them get to me.
