Chapter 5

Annie POV

"Mom, where are you?" Ethan, my son, yelled.

"In the back, don't mind the mess," I yelled. My home office was a bit messy.

"There you are, should have known," he laughed.

"What do you need? I'm trying to grade papers," I said a bit agitated.

"Addie is gone."

"What do you mean gone?" He showed me a note. I read it over and sighed. I don't need this right now.

I took the note and drove to Tylers work.

"Annie, what can I help you with?" Tyler asked.

"Cut the shit Tyler," I laughed, "Addie is gone."

He laughed before speaking, "Gone? Where to?" I handed him the note and he read it over. "Just like her mother," he said.

"Seriously?" I asked.

"Have you tried calling her?"

I looked at him, "you think I'm stupid?" He looked away, "No, I didn't call."

He dialed her number and put it on speaker.

Addie POV

"Hey buddy," I said to Jj.

"Hi Addie," He said. He's been talking better, with correct english.

"What did you do today?" I asked.

"I played with my friends."

"Was it fun?" He nodded eagerly. We drove back to the apartment in silence.

Back at the house I started making dinner. It was 4:30 and I hadn't eaten for a while, work was hard.

Yep, I dropped out of high school and found a decent enough paying job as a waitress. Jj goes to an allday preschool on weekdays, Saturday's he comes to work with me until two and Sundays are our days.

As I was cooking dinner Jj worked on writing his letters. I helped out when he needed it. After dinner was done cooking I let it cool for a bit.

"Ready to eat buddy?"

"Yes. I'm so hungry," he said. I served out chicken broccoli alfredo.

Half way through dinner the door opened. I turned and saw who it was, "You're home early," I said.

"I missed you," Emmett, my boyfriend, said.

"We saw each other this morning," I said.

He walked over and kissed my cheek. I stood up and served him dinner.

"How was your day?" I asked.

"Good. Yours?"

"It was pretty good."

"Yeah, that's good. How was school Jj?"

"Fun. We played super heros!"

"Cool! Maybe we can play something after dinner?"

"Yay! Can we play pirates?"

"Sure bud," Emmett said.

After dinner we built a fort out of pillows and blankets.

"Aarg matey," Jj said.

"Oh no!" Emmett yelled. I snapped a few pictures and laughed at them. I'm so happy I have Emmett, I got lucky with him. While taking pictures my phone started ringing.

"Hello?" I said.

"Addie?"

"Yes, who's this?"

"This is your parents Addie."

'I'm stepping outside' I mouthed to Emmett.

"Yes, is there something you need?"

"We want you to come back home. We just found your note and we miss you. We've been worried," my mom said.

"Missed me? This is the first call you've tried. I'm not coming home."

"Addie, please. What can we do?"

"Nothing. You know when I wrote that note?"

"We assume a week ago."

"Try again. Jack and I have been gone a year and a half."

"You took Jack?"

"You're wonderful parents," I hung up. I went back in to see the apartment cleaned up.

"Going to bed Jj?"

"Yeah, I'm tired."

"Alright, goodnight. Love you."

"Love you too, night Emmett."

Emmett and I sat on the couch.

"Who was on the phone?" Emmett asked.

"My parents."

"Really?"

"Yeah, a week is too long and they want us home."

He laughed, "a week, they mean nearly two?" I laughed with him.

"Its late, we should get to bed," I suggested.

"Yeah, lets go."

We went and layed in bed. "Will you sing to me?" I asked.

"Seriously?" I gave him the puppy dog lip, "fine. What shoul I sing?"

"I don't care. Just sing." He has the sweetest voice ever, its perfect.

"Everything will be alright if we keep dancing like we're 22," he sang.

I punched him, "anything but that whore."

"Fine," he thought for a moment, "If we could only have this life for one more day, if we could only turn back time," he kept singing One Directions 'Moments' to me. When he was done I felt tired and let the darkness take over me as I slept.
