CHAPTER THREE

MAALIWALAS ANG MUKHA ni Serena nang pasukin ang elevator para puntahan ang palapag kung saan magaganap ang kanyang interview.

There was a smile on her lips. She's excited for the interview. Kung suswertehin siyang makapasok bilang bagong sekretarya ng may-ari ng kompanya ay magiging malaking tulong iyon sa pamilya niya.

In the Philippine society, she is just another commoner who strives to live with the harsh economy. Nakatira lang sila sa paupahang bahay. Wala na siyang ama kaya sila na lang ng ina niya ang magkatulong sa buhay. Tumatanggap ng labada ang ina niya. Siya naman ay dating nagtratrabaho sa isang opisina pero nagresign na siya roon dahil madalas siyang hinaharass ng manyak nilang supervisor. She's been hunting for a job for two weeks now since the day she left her former job.

Mahirap maging mahirap, lalo na kung isa ka pang single mother na gustong bigyan ng magandang buhay ang anak mo.

Dahil prestihiyosong kompanya ang kanyang papasukan, marami siyang mga kakompentensya na gusto ring mag-apply bilang sekretarya. Ilan sa mga ito ay nakasabay niya sa elevator. She smiled politely to everyone who enters the lift. But her smile faded when she saw a person she didn't want to see approaching.

It was the man she had s-x with.

Mukhang aburido ito at nagmamadaling pumasok sa loob ng asensor. Sa likod nito ay may humahabol na babae. Hindi siya napansin nito dahil mabilis itong bumaling upang pindutin ang buton kung saang palapag nito gustong pumunta.

Initially, Serena moved to the very corner of the room and hid herself behind the backs of the other people that were there.

"Reuben!" sabi ng babaeng humabol dito. "Reuben! Stop avoiding me!"

"Ohh... So Reuben is the name," Serena thought to herself.

"What the f-ck do you want from me, Angeline? I told you I had enough of you. We're done."

"No!" cried the girl he called Angeline. "We are not breaking up! You are not leaving me!"

"Seriously?" Reuben's face was crumpled with disgust. "You dare to pull your drama here? In front of these people? Have you no shame for yourself?"

Nanggigilid ang mga luha ni Angeline. "Please don't do this to me," she begged. "I promise I will be a better lover for you! I... I promise I will tend to your every needs, if you will just give me another chance!"

"Lover? Tend to his needs? Grabe! This guy was just having s-x with me last night! Tapos may ex-girlfriend siya ngayon na naghahabol sa kanya? Since when did they break-up? Was it just a few minutes ago? Days ago? Weeks ago? Months ago? Is Reuben some kind of f-ckboy?"
