Mikah’s Pov

Normally when a rogue is brought in, my father or I am the first ones down in the cell taking care of the situation. But last night was the end of the month pack meeting; which is when pack members can present their requests to the alpha, which just so happens to be my father. Last night was the first time I was allowed to incorporate my decisions into the pack. In two weeks I will turn eighteen and my father will step down as alpha giving me full control and making me the new alpha of the hidden spirit pack.

Requests can be simple things like asking permission to leave our territory or asking acceptance on behalf of mates to join the pack. We couldn't just let our pack members leave whenever they wanted to. If they accidentally crossed another packs territory it could bring down unwanted wars between the packs. We had to make sure we knew where they were going and when they would be back. Crossing other packs boundaries wasn't the only threat, there were also rogues that tended to attack first and ask questions later.

When my father got the call last night that a she-wolf was brought in he decided to let Chris, his beta, handle it also making sure that Rex would be on call if Chris needed him. A single she-wolf isn't normally much of a threat and Lincoln said she was heavily sedated.  She would be out till morning.

The last thing I expected when I walked over to the prison block this morning was being told by Rex that he needed to help out our latest prisoner. We didn’t tend to get many rogues pass through our territory simply due to the fact that shifters weren’t stupid enough to cross onto our land without permission. We were one of the more feared packs due to the fact that we didn’t tend to keep prisoners. If rogues crossed our pack land without permission and didn’t have a plausible reason for doing so, they were normally punished with death. Some other packs thought this treatment was a little harsh, but they were also a lot weaker in comparison to us and it tended to show. If you compared our rogue attack statistics compared to theirs, you would see a defined difference.

I didn't know what to do when Rex asked me to stand by him. It was very rare for us to permit rogues to join us due to their unpredictable behaviour and disobedience when it came to following orders. The only time a rogue was ever joined into our pack was when they were another pack member’s mate; and even then they were discreetly watched until they proved they could be trusted.

We were sitting in my father’s office waiting for the rogue to be brought in. I looked over at Rex and could tell that he was nervous. Rex explained to my father about the new rogue being an orphan and then asked him to consider joining the rogue into our pack. I thought my father would flat out refuse and that I would have to figure out a way to persuade him. I didn't really care what happened to the rogue but I promised Rex I would help him. So when my father said he would like to meet her, I couldn't help the surprise that showed on my face.

Rex wanted to be the one to bring the rogue to the house, but my father wouldn’t let him. That wasn’t a good sign. It probably meant my father would refuse Rex’s request and he probably wanted to prevent any contact between them. If my father refused and Rex didn’t accept his decision, we would have a big problem on our hands.

Rex clearly had more than just a crush on this Stormy chick and I feared what the outcome was going to be today. I was more curious to meet this girl than my father was. Rex had talked about her for weeks and she sounded like she really convinced Rex with her story she spun about being an orphan.  But how much did he really know about her? She could be making it up for all he knew. As much as I loved, respected and trusted Rex, I couldn’t help but wonder if he was just thinking with his dick at the moment. I shook my head to clear the last thought from my head. Rex and I have never had problems when it came to women and he wasn’t stupid. Rex sounded panic struck and scared as he begged me for help this morning. He wouldn’t act like that if he didn’t truly care for her.
