Chapter 55: Lanterns in the Sky

Kerr received an email from his representative in Zimbabwe asking his permission to forward an 

email by the Kingali tribe. Kuruku thanked him for his video interview which helped them win their 

case against the local government officials. He also sent this greetings to" the one who sent you back 

to earth." Kerr happily told him that he's taking their relationship to the next level. Kuruku sent him 

good wishes from the men, women, and children of the village. " I will be with you on that special 

day," Kuruku wrote him in his email.

In the next days that followed, Kerr familiarized himself with Misibis Bay and of course, Allaine. They 

had a talk without Elle's knowledge and her Dad committed his support for Kerr's plan.

It was a beautiful night. The dark sky was littered with stars and the moon was shining brightly. 

Candles were strewn around and lighted the pathway. Elle and Kerr were walking in the garden where

 fireflies are abundant as well. Elle was told that Allaine won't be home till 9 pm as he needed to talk 

to some suppliers.

Then Kerr just stopped in the middle of the garden where the scent of jasmin flowers are dominating. 

He held Elle's hands and looked at her intently. "I have to ask you this Elle before anything else. My 

future depends on your answer."

Elle felt some kind of alarm. He looked so bothered by something? What is it?

With hesitation, she said to him," You're scaring me right now but sure, you can ask me whatever it is 

that's bothering you. I hope that I can be of help." After a few hesitation, Kerr dropped his question.

"Elle...will you marry me?"

Elle started laughing so hard which confused Kerr. But before he can voice this out, Elle replied, "Yes! Yes! Yes! Kerr! You can marry me any time!"

Then he did this. He took out Allaine's cellphone from his pocket, and pressed his number. Then they hugged, laughed, and kissed with tears in  their eyes.

Not far from them, someone received the go signal, and they all released the lighted lanterns in the sky, re-enacting the hot air balloons that lifted in the sky when Elle gave his heart to Kerr. After a few minutes, Allaine appeared with the caretakers.

" Thank you Dad!" Thank you everyone! You are all good actors and actresses specially you Dad!" Everyone laughed in agreement to what she said,

Allaine went to Kerr and said, " Finally, welcome to our family Kerr! It was a long journey but you guys made it home." Kerr hugged him back.

The next weeks and months were spent on planning for the wedding. Both wanted an intimate wedding since they both don't have big families to start with. They chose a garden wedding instead. Kerr's parents and Charlene cannot contain their excitement for their coming union. Moreover for Allison and Donnely who connected the puzzles that linked them together.
