Chapter 36: Out in the Open

Allison just stared at Donnelley blankly and no words would come out of her mouth. It's the story of

Elle and Kerr... if not for the girlfriend trying to kill herself. She needed to ask him this question

''Don, when you hit Elle... it was an accident right? There's no way she did it on purpose."

Donnelley's silence was deafening for Allison.

"It's very hard to for me to admit this to you but... that's what I thought when she just came in front of

my SUV. She knew she's on the wrong side but she still kept coming and coming. She has all the time

to stop if she wanted to but she didn't. Like she was waiting for something to stop her, until she

collided with the hood..."

"Oh my God! I can't believe that I'm hearing this right now." Now I understand why he can't forgive

himself. And Elle? She was a happy kid, and for me to learn that she wanted to end her life because of

what happened is just beyond me. I didn't really understand the reason why Elle broke up with him in

the first place because during that time, Kerr was a changed man. He was there in the house almost

everyday, helping her out with stuff because she's on a wheelchair and can't do stuff on her own. I

was mad at him at first because I witnessed him cheating on her. But I saw how sorry he was for what

happened to her. I thought that his being there was good for Elle.

"Now I know. She broke up with him because she felt that he's only there because of guilt for what he

did. That he never loved her at all. And never did I imagine of her having suicidal tendencies... but

then she just lost her Mom during that time... and to experience another loss in her young life. .''

Shocked as he was, Don called up Elle and told her that they're going to pick her up. They

wanted to break this news to her with them around and make sure that she'll be alright after hearing

the story of Donnelley's friend, Q.
