You'll Never Be Good Enough

"You think you can just steal him from me?" Courtney repeated, her voice rising.

"I didn't steal anyone," I replied calmly, trying to defuse the situation.

Courtney's laughter was mocking. "Oh, please. You think you're so innocent, don't you? But you're just a pathetic little wannabe, trying to get attention by latching onto Justin."

I felt a surge of anger run through me. "Isn't that what you did?" It occured to me that I could turn this around on Courtney for cheating on Justin in the first place but decided not to just yet.

Courtney sneered. "You're not even in our league, Caroline. You're just a nobody trying to be somebody. And you'll never be good enough for Justin."

With that, she turned on her heel and stormed off, leaving me feeling shaken and angry. But I refused to let her get to me. I took a deep breath and headed back to class, determined to focus on my own life and try to regain my previous serene state.

But as I walked back into the classroom, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was far from over...
