Abandoned Hangar.
Emily looks over to Nero who's isolated himself from them, standing over at the other end of the hangar. Sid goes around the place, looking at all the rusted airplanes that once took to the skies.

Sid: look at all these planes. They just left em all here

Emily walks past him with her head down and shoulders slouched.

Sid: are you all right?

Emily: yeah… I'm fine

She says with an obvious fake smile.

Sid: he still hasn't said a word to you and it bothers you right?

Emily: is it that obvious?

Sid: kinda, yeah. It’s not really easy to miss, I mean you two really hit it off a year and a half ago, you were practically together all the time

Emily: ...

Sid: I still don't know how you two never dated

Emily: how did you do it?

Sid: do what?

Emily: get him to talk to you. He barely notices me now

Sid: a lot of things happened to him all that time ago. He was tortured day in and day out, he still hasn't opened up about it, and I don’t think he ever will

Emily: that's why he resents the army so much?

Sid: yeah

Emily: ...

Sid: look Emily, Nero won't return to his old self on his own. He needs to be guided back, and I failed miserably at that… so, it’s up to you

Emily: what makes you think I can get to him. I'm invisible to him now, he's barely looked at my face

Sid: then you're going to have to try harder, make him notice you. You've done it before, effortlessly

Emily: this is not like it used to be, Sid

Sid: I know, which is why I need you to do this, make it like it once was, so by the time we find Leo, the whole gang will be back together again

Emily looks over to Nero.

Nightfall. And still no word of any sighting from the soldiers. Asami still has troops surveilling the city in hopes of finding them.

Col. Aizen: It’s too dark. There's no way we can find them like this

Asami: ...

Col. Aizen: we should pull our men back, they need their rest for an early start tomorrow

Asami: a few more hours

Col. Aizen: fine, I'll give you two hours, then I'll be pulling them back

Aizen leaves the room all to Asami. In her lonesome state, she thinks back to her rookie days, back when the world was filled with more living people instead of flesh eating monsters. Back to when she and Nadia were an unstoppable team.

{Ten years ago.}
Asami and Nadia's unit have been sent on a recovery mission. The daughter of a Japanese president has been kidnapped by a ruthless band of mercenaries. Rumoured to sell teenage daughters to a large human trafficking ring.

The unit spent weeks trying to get on the trail of the mercenaries and by some stroke of luck, they finally manage to find their camp. A large open field filled with heavily armed men.
