Kanna's eyes opened slowly.

It was quiet. There wasn't anyone around.

She sat up.
"Hello?"

No one answered.
She then heard some children laughing, and she walked out of the door to see the sun shining brightly. Some kids were dancing. When she looked over, she could see Rylo playing ball with one of the kids.

A little girl was braiding Yuki's hair. Yuki then looked over at her.
"Ah! Kanna!"
She ran over and hugged her.

"Yuki! It's so good to see you!"

Yuki then let herself out of the hug.
"Are you feeling ok?"

Kanna nodded.
"I just feel a little confused."

"How come?" Yuki asked.

"It's just that one minute I was getting rocks thrown at me, and then the next minute my brother is holding me in his arms with people cheering out of joy."

Yuki nodded and looked out at everyone peacefully.
"It was a defense mechanism for Guardians."

Kanna looked at Yuki with confusion.
"Defense mechanism?"

Yuki nodded.
"Walk with me."

Kanna nodded and they both started walking around the village.

"The defense mechanism happens when there is nothing the Guardian can do. The last Guardian's spirit gives you that power. Their spirit shows you the way. Your eyes glow the color of your elemental aura and your power is at its strongest. Every Guardian can do it. Even the Azena. It's called entering the Divine spirit." Yuki explained.

Kanna remembered when Delaaran did the same back when everyone began arguing. There was nothing he could do. He felt powerless.

"I see." Kanna said.

"But it takes all of your strength. That is why you were weak and fainted. Once you master aqua shifting, then you might be able to control it."

Kanna nodded.
"So, the spirits are the last Guardians?"

Yuki nodded.
"The last Azena's wife, Umanvi."

Kanna's heart skipped a beat.
"Wait, that's Delaaran's mom. She was alive when we left."

Yuki looked at her. "I know."

Kanna looked at her with anxiety flowing through her body.
"So, everyone we ever left is...dead?"

Yuki looked away from her and out towards the water.
"No, not quite. Although time is very different from Earth, if you try and go back, it won't be the same the way you left it. We know this because Umanvi connected with her people through water."

Kanna looked at her confused.
"I don't understand. My father? I'll never see my family again?"

Yuki looked into her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Kanna."

Kanna tightly closed her eyes and ran away.

"Kanna!" Yuki yelled.

It was already dark, and no one could find Kanna.

Rylo was looking around every tree.

"Did you find her, Rylo?" Yuki asked.

Rylo shook his head.
"Why did she run away?"

Yuki looked away.
"Let's talk about it later. We have to find her first."

Rylo felt weird about how Yuki was acting, but he continued to look.
