Landon P.O.V

I run deeper into the forest, trying to ignore the burning in my side.

If I stop running, I'll surely be killed. I made a promise to Lilac and my family, I plan on keeping it.

'Shift into our true form, it will make the pain lessen,' My wolf instructs. I follow his orders.

Once I'm in wolf form, I'm able to run much faster.

Behind me, I could hear paws hitting the ground, catching up to me. I didn't bother running faster because it's somebody from this pack.

A closer look tells me the wolf is Nicholas.

'Alpha James said there's a group of wolves up near the north boundary line, about six of them. He wants us to take care of them,' He informs.

I nod before picking up my speed again, refusing to slow down when my side starts to burn in pain.

'They're weakening. They're are sending in less numbers of wolves.'

Once we arrive at the north border, Nicholas and I are quick to sneak up on the wolves and attack.

Of course I got the more rowdy wolves, the wolves that wanted to make my injury even more life-threatening.

Alpha James voice rings out in my head, and assuming from the contents of his message, Hunter and Nicholas hear the message too.

'Nicholas, Hunter, Landon, I need your back-up a few miles away from the pack house,' He says in his alpha voice.

Nicholas and I make a bee-line to the area around the pack house, curious of the new situation at hand.

I'm met with Alpha James and the alpha of The Moarte Pack, Kael.

They both wore ripped shorts but had no shirts on. Behind Kael is his Beta and Gamma.

"So we meet again, James, but this will be the last!" Kael laughs. James rolls his eyes before motioning for us to shift into our human forms.

Once we all shift, Kael steps forward with his proposition.

"I'll tell you what. You and me, James. My betas take on your betas, and my gamma takes on your gamma," he says.

James looks back at us, his eyes linger on me before he turns back to Kael.

"I accept your challenge. If I win, you get off of my land, if you win, forget the peace treaty and the joining of our packs," James says.

Kael thinks over it for a minute before nodding.

All of us are quick to start circling our opponents, sizing them up and looking for weak spots.

Kael jumps at James, making his beta and gamma follow his lead.

I easily dodge the gamma's blow, adrenaline now pumping.

The found energy made my wound heal faster, which is a bad thing since my ribs haven't been reset.

The gamma turns on his heels, his eyes a bright gold. His eyes fall to my wound before a smirk comes over his face.

"You're injured."

"And you're dead," I growl threateningly.

Rage blinds him, making him an easy kill.

When he runs at me, I easily grip his throat with my claws before applying pressure.

I smirk when he starts to wheeze, blood starting to slowly trickle out of his wounds.

"You fool!" Kael yells, grabbing my attention.

James had him on the ground, his claws right where his heart is, ready to rip it out at any minute.

James had acquired a few wounds, mostly little scratches, but they were healing quickly.

Also, Nicholas and Hunter had dominated over their counterparts.

Does this mean we have won? Does this mean I can go see my mate and children?

"Call off your imbeciles, Kael and get the hell off my land."

••

I rush into the pack house, not bothering to strip from my bloodied clothes.

Alpha James gives me a nod.

"Go find your mate," He says in a whisper. I'm supposing so Hunter wouldn't hear him, considering James knows about Hunter being Lilac's true mate.

I quickly find the false panel in the hallway connected to James's office.

Jogging down the stair, I look around at the many women and children.

Maya runs up to me. "She's in that room. I would be quiet, Lilac and the baby are sleeping," Maya informs me.

"As in... my newborn baby?" I ask breathlessly.

Maya nods before pushing me towards the room.

Nervousness overwhelms me, my mind wondering with possibilities and questions about my newborn child.

I open the door slowly before closing it behind me, instantly being met with darkness.

The small bed creaks as somebody sits up, I'm supposing Lilac.

"Landon?" Lilac's tired voice calls.

Suddenly, the turns on, making me blink.

A relieved smile comes over Lilac's face as she opens her arms for me.

Engulfing Lilac in a hug, I breath in her addicting scent, ignoring the mild smell of sweat and blood.

Lilac pulls back from the hug and immediately starts to examine my wound.

She gently prods it with her finger. "It definitely needs to be reset," She whispers disapprovingly.

I run my knuckle down the side of her face. "Don't worry about me, let's worry about our newborn baby."

Lilac smiles before gently picking up a bundle that I never noticed from beside her.

"Careful, she's sleep."

My eyes widen as I look at the bundle in Lilac's arms. "It's a... girl?" I whisper happily.

Lilac nods as tears of joy prickle her eyes. I blink away my tears before taking the small bundle from Lilac's arms.

As if startled, my baby girl opens her eyes to reveal her beautiful blue-grayish irises.

"My beautiful baby girl," I laugh while trying to fight back tears again. Lilac smiles.

"You have two daughters now," Lilac says.

I glance up at her before cupping her face. "You'll always be my beloved first born."

The baby starts to cry, her tiny fist shaking vigorously.

I bounce her gentle, to no avail.

Lilac laughs before holding her arms out. "Maybe a mother's touch is all she needs," She says as she takes her from my arms.

As if by magic, the baby stops crying.

"Lucy Veronica West," I say in thought, "That's a beautiful name for a beautiful baby girl."

Lilac starts to laugh. "You smell like death, Landon!"

I roll my eyes before taking her face into my hands and kissing her.

The kiss held so much passion, making me feel as if I'm on cloud 9.

"Let's not focus on that," I whisper.
