Frost bites and echoing laughs
We made snow angels in front of
The door to gatekeep the love
That was doomed from the start.
At first your constant I love you's
Had made me feel safe and sound
Until I got that you tried to wrap
Me up in your idea of forever.
Snowflakes and smacking kisses
We built a snow castle in the back
Of the garden to hold us from pain
That was down to break us apart.
I knew you wanted me to be strong
On the face of the problems that
Kept coming up like winter storms
Burying us in the cold darkness.
Icy winds and hand-holding
We put a snowman under all of
The windows to guard our fears
From turning into real monsters.
Being with you made me feel
Like a caged bird that longed
To fly off but I couldn't because
You needed me to stay alive.
Snowballs and clocked embraces
We raised a snow wall around all
Of the land to keep our views
From shaping into new lives.
At last your continued I need you's
Had me walking on my tip-toes
Not seeing that you led us right
Into the flaming fire of terror.

A/N: Alright, I'm truly one of those writers who gets very inspired by nature and its wonders, so whenever I have an idea for a poem like this, it usually comes from different seasons. Winter is my second favourite next to autumn because it just has some real magic; the kind that makes me feel all warm and happy.
I hope all of you are having a great Christmas Eve today(and if you don't celebrate it, I just wish and send you a lot of happiness your way)!!!
With love,
M.
