Grace Upon Grace

I know you're hurting right now

the darkness wants to bury you in

and God's light seems so far away

but He never is, He never will.

As I walked into the church

I felt a firm belonging to

something far beyond this

world that keeps on turning

to shift down my faith in Him

so I won't live upon His grace.

I know you're working right now

the duty wants to hold you in

and God's wisdom is so grave

but it never is, it never will.

Christ's example of steadfast faith

helped me to hold on to my own

it never made sense before Him

His word was what I was lacking

to become anew upon His grace.

I know you're dying right now

the pain wants to crush you in

and God's love seems so distant

but He never is, He never will.

The building wasn't my home

my home was in His arms

where love never runs out

afar from the voices I hear

I knew I'd feel safe there

since I won't leave His grace.

I know you're dating right now,

the desire wants to keep you in

and God's calling is so heavy

but it never is, it never will.

Christ's mercy is everlasting

it overwhelmed me at times

to know that I'm precious to Him

down to the last shell that is in me

to become joyful upon His grace.

A/N: Whenever I come up with a poem about my faith or God in general, I feel so powerful in a sense that knowing where I belong and how He's shaping me through His word and Gospel is giving me so much joy and hope for the future, whatever happens, and how much pain I have a handle. It's the way life is and there is nothing to do to change it.  At his point, I couldn't imagine a better way to use my talent that writing about it, so let's give each other some grace and create a better tomorrow.

With love,

M.
