Bonus Chapter: Aemond's goodbye to his children
Aemond had returned from Harrenhal; broken, angered and void of any emotion.
He'd brought back his late wife's body, so that she might have a proper funeral ceremony to be put to rest.
The now dowager king consort, had retreated to his chambers, not willing to so much as look at anyone. He'd ordered for one of the squires to ready his armour while he gave away his sword to be cleaned and sharpened.
He sank down in the chair by the fire place, across from the one that belonged to his beloved late wife.
A gentle knock on the door snapped him out of his thoughts.
His fists clenched shut tightly as he turned toward the door before shouting from his seat with rage.
"I told you I was to be left alone!"
Despite his frightening tone, the person on the other side pushed open the door and Aemond stood up in an instant, ready to unleash his fury on whoever had decided to defy his orders.
But the minute his gaze landed on the person who was at the doorway, his expression softened before he got on his knees to be on the same level as his visitor.
"I'm sorry" he apologised in a tender voice as he held out an arm "come"
Lucereon and Jasira nervously entered, still quiet shaken by the the tone they'd heard their father use only a few moments ago.
But seeing his softened gaze and eyes misty from crying with arms waiting to welcome them into an embrace, both children quickly ran to their father, wrapping their arms around him.
"Where's mother" Jasira meekly asked as she toyed with one of the silver buttons on Aemond's vest.
Aemond didn't know how to answer his daughter.
"Is she still away?" Lucereon asked "I miss her"
"I know" Aemond managed a weak smile as he fondly looked at his children "I miss her too"
"When will she be back?" The boy asked again.
"Mother'a gone away for a bit, I'm afraid it's going be a while before you see her again" he tried to put on a brave front "and your father is going to go look for her. If I do not return soon, just know, that I've found her"
"Where are you going?" Jasira questioned innocently "you will be back, won't you?"
"I hope so ñuha zaldrītsos" (my little dragon) Aemond sadly smiled at the sweet little girl "but incase I do not.."
He pulled his children closer again for another hug, a single tear tear rolled down his cheek that he furiously wiped away before pulling back to look at the kids one last time.
"Aōha kepa jorrāelagon ao sīr olvie" (your father loves you very much) he reminded as he took his time to look at each of them, memorising every detail of their appearance "Dōrī nārhēdegon bona" (never forget that)
He stood up, but Jasira still held on to his pinky while Lucereon loosely had his arm around his father's leg.
"Don't go" the boy sadly whined, making this even harder for Aemond.
"I'll see you soon" the king consort tried his best to sound comforting even though he could physically feel his heart shatter.
"Promise?"
Aemond just ruffled his hair and walked them to his mother's chambers.
"Keep them safe" he stated, keeping his gaze cold and distant "Jasira is princess of Dragonstone and is to marry Maelor when he's of age. I officially name my son Lucereon as heir to the throne"
Without responding to his mother's questions of confusion and concern, he walked to the armoury to ready himself for his fate awaiting back at Harrenhal.
