Saving Durin {Hobbit/Thorin}

Prologue

It's those times in life when merely existing is an endless struggle that you realize how fast life has sped by. Just a few years ago, it seems like I was living in Avon with my family, entranced in a life filled with love. This feeling encircled us, clothed us, provided for us. Until that point, I thought love to be undefeatable. Now I realize that just as you need a heart to love, you must lack a heart to kill. And thus, love could not always protect us, and it surely did not.

My family was murdered in the springtime, the symbolic time of rebirth. Spring is supposed to encompass blossoms, bird songs, whistling winds, and joyous animal behavior on the brook side. Now, it represents for me stab wounds, screaming infants, the stench of death, and body-riddled red rivers.

It is selfish for me to wallow in such pity as I do, for others have lost more than I. However, being half-phoenix heightens my emotions tenfold of a typical being. It is my anger that has pushed me towards a revenge that I sought every day, of every hour, of every minute for the last century.

My hobbit friend, Bilbo Baggins, told me that the best way to cope with loss is through the process of writing, and alas, he would know. We have shared in the loss of our brothers. So, here I am, sitting in the meadow on a bloody Spring day. And yet, I feel the winds shifting along with my perception of this season as I continue to bask in the golden years of my lover. I can never erase what happened to my family, but by avenging it, I saved future clans from the pain that accompanies loss. My previous actions have given me a sense of pride, which will always be greater than any feeling of loss. My name is Erudian Houdart and this is my tale of there and back again.

Hey guys! So this is my first story on Wattpad. I will be posting every or every-other day. If you guys have any question or recommendations, please post them below. I would truly appreciate any comments as well!

Erudian Houdart will be played by the lovely Amanda Seyfried (picture above). The remainder of the cast will follow that of the movie cast. In addition, this story will follow the storyline and dialogue of the movie version of The Hobbit.
