At school I see a fight break out and I run to it as it was our class room. Jughead and Toni push in after I started pushing in.
The next day we all sat in the lounge and kev walked in giving Betty a dirty look
"What's with kev?" Archie asks
"The farm arch they got him too and up next, my house" Betty says
"Well my offer still stands I know that my trailer is cramped but you're more than welcomed to stay with me" Jughead says
"You could stay with me and sweets as well it's not really a trailer but more of a square box but we could make you a bed" I say
"You're always welcomed at the pembroke b" v says
"Yeah you can take my old room" I say
"You can crash at my place too I mean I've already got a homeless kid sleeping in my garage" Archie says and we all give him weird looks since this is the first time we are hearing about this
"Yeah his names Ricky he ran away from a group home and was squatting at the gym that's how I found him" Archie says
"Sounds like me sophomore year" Jughead says
"Guys he has a branding on his arm, the same one the warden gave me when I was in juvie it says he's a sacrifice" arch says
"Oh my god" v says
"Is he playing g&g" Betty asks
"I don't know I left him at pops for the day" Archie says
"Arch maybe you should call ms Weiss we know her we know she'd find him a good family" Betty says
"I agree Archie you are just getting your life back in order since my dad and having a kid now you might be way in over your head" I say
"Yeah yeah would you mind sending me her number" Archie asks Betty
We sat in the serpent room I sat in the desk sweet pea was sitting on top of
"Alright serpents let's get right to it, any of you guys know about the break in? To the chemistry lab?" Jughead says and I turn around to see Kurtz staring at me smiling
"Kurtz what are you smiling about?" Jughead asks
"Just thinking how looting the alchemist lair was one of our more rewarding quests" he says he leans forward and looks at me "come on a quest with me Avery" he whispers and I look at Jughead
"Are you serious?" Jughead asks "you did that as part of a g&g game? You realize weatherbees gunning for us now right moron" Jughead asks
"You promised us immunity" Kurtz says
"Not when you go and flagrantly break the law" Jughead says
"You were granted immunity for your past now we can't grant you that if you purposely go and break the rules" I say
"Your gonna return the equipment" Jughead says
"The hell I am" Kurtz says
"Freakin fizzle rock junkie" fangs says
"You wanna go right now?" Kurtz asks and fangs jumps up and and sweet pea jump up and grab him
"Don't think that we've forgotten about you spying on the gargoyles I should have beaten you over the head with that branding iron when I had the chance" Kurtz says and fangs try's to jump forward
"Al right back down both of you right now!" Jughead screams and sweet pea pushes fangs back
"Ascend with me" he whisper to me and sweet pea grabs my hand and pulls me away
"Whatever bad blood existed between the serpents and the gargoyles it's over we're all serpents now. You know I think it's high time our newer members learned about our laws" Jughead says
"Is this for real" Kurtz asks
"Repeat after me. In unity there is strength" Jughead says
"In unity there is strength" we all chant back
"I can't hear you Kurtz you wanna try that again" Jughead asks
"I play by a different set of rules" Kurtz says
"Then you're out of the gang" Jughead says and he walks up to Jughead "you came to me, remember? Your mother came to me. Invited us into the serpents and looking around you need us more than we need you so if you're rescinding what you promised us then you better to offer before we decide to throw you guys out of our gang" Kurtz says
After school we all meet in the bunker
"His name is Ricky does anybody recognize him?" Jughead asks showing up a boy drawing
"Well he's in trouble so we're gonna help Archie find him break the town into sections and we'll split up the work" Jughead says
"You want us to go looking for some dumb kid?" Kurtz asks and Archie steps up and Jughead gets in between them
"Was it your crew that came after him at pops? Looking to make him a sacrifice?" Archie asks
"No, dude we have other business of the chemical kind. But there are others out there, outliers that broke away when we joined the serpents" Kurtz says
"You mean there are gargoyles out there that are even crazier than you?" Fangs asks
"Will you shut up" jug says to fangs
"If what your saying is true then that's all the more reason that we need to find him fast" Jughead says
"You better get to it then" Kurtz says before leaving
"We'll help look" another gargoyle dude says
The next day I skip school and go looking for Ricky. Jug texts me to meet him and Archie somewhere so I do. It was the gargoyles nesting grounds.
We walked in and it was dark and destroyed
We looked around and found a board with names on it all of the names have been crossed out. Besides two
Ricky's and Archie's.
"All these names" Archie says
"look it's everyone's who has died jug" I say
"They're sacrifice" Archie says
"Jug" he says then we hear something we turn and it's Ricky
We go around back and get him "Ricky, what the hell are you doing in here?" Archie asks and helps him out
"Are you ok?" Archie asks him
"Yeah" he says "I came here cause I heard they all cleared out" Ricky says
"The gargoyles? Yeah, they're gone" Jughead says
"I thought this would be the last place they'd come looking for me but I'll never be able to escape them I'm marked for death that's what this symbol means isn't it?" Ricky cry's and I wrap my arms around him
"And you have it too" he says
"Yeah it means sacrifice but that's not gonna happen. Okay? I swear right jug? Avery?" Arch says
"Yeah" I say "that's right" jug says "that said let's get the hell outta here" jug adds and we leave
At school Jughead talks
"We found the kid but he's still in danger. So is Archie for that matter" jug says
"So what's the next play?" Sweets asks
"It's a classic gambit, the hunters become the hunted. Kurtz had said that there are some rogue Goyles so you two" he says and whistles at some goyles "hey, heckle and jeckle Start talking I want the names of those outliers and I want sentries posted at the gargoyle lair" jug says and Toni comes running in
"Jughead! You need to come right now"
"What Toni?" Jug asks
"Kurtz is about to kill fangs" Toni says and we all just up and run out we push through and see Kurtz hanging fangs
"Guys help" fangs says
"Don't be scared you dirty serpent spy you're about to ascend and you'll fly too" Kurtz says to fangs
"You Better pull him back up or else" I growl
"Kurtz...don't" Jughead says
"Happy landings worthless snake" he says and we all rush forward as Kurtz drops him.
And he lands on all three of us
We sat in the our class the next day
"What the hell is he doing here?" Kurtz asks
"I made the invitation" jug say
"Why" sweets yells
"Kurtz boasted that the serpents need him more than he needs us" jug says and Kurtz turns around and looks at me and sweet pea
"I disagree, but one thing is true the serpents are rudderless we lack identity and focus we're better and strong when we're task focused that's why with the help of my father serpent emeritus, we've come up with a plan to deputize the serpents to become partners with the riverdale sheriffs department" jug says
"You'll work for me. Help me with investigations, be my eyes and ears in the community in return you'll get paid and receive school credit to help you apply to colleges" FP says
"This is about bringing order ensuring our survival but this is gonna be a brand new chapter for the serpents and we can't be divided about it so let's put it to a vote" jug says
"If it's not unanimous there's the damn door" FP says walking up to Kurtz
"All in favor?" Jug says and we all put our hands up sweet pea clears his throat which makes the rest of them put their hands up. Now it was only Kurtz and he turned to look at sweet pea who was smirking at him.
Kurtz gets up and leaves "good riddance" FP says
"Sweet do we get to carry guns?" Sweet pea asks and I shove him
"Absolutely not" FP say
"No" jug says
We go back to the gargoyle den and start fixing it up. It was gonna be the new serpent den.
