At the last stop I called sweet pea and checked on him he was upset I left but understood why. I made a promise I would soon come back to him

The three of us have been walking for days. We were as close as ever.

Jughead tried calling Betty but she didn't answer.

"Still no answer?" Archie asks as I enter the booth I called sweet pea and he answered after a few rings.

"Hey where are you?" He asks me

"Honestly somewhere with many fields. I will let you know when we get to a town or something. I miss you my sweets" I say

"I miss you to I can't wait for this to be over so I can see you again I know it's only been a few days but it feels so long" he says

"I know but I will call you at the next phone I get to I love you" I say to him

"I love you to be careful" he says And I hang up.

We start walking through the fields

"It would be nice to stop looking over my shoulder all the time, just find somewhere to settle you know?" Archie says
"We will" Jughead reply's
"When we find the right place we'll know we're gonna feel it" I say
"Or maybe we're already there" Archie says as we come across a house and barn
"Nice try let's get a couple more miles in before nightfall" Jughead says
"Come on jug we gotta bunk somewhere" Archie says we all look at each other and Archie shrugs before he started walking again and Jughead looked at me and I did the same.

We walk up to the house and hear a gun cock

"You're trespassing now let's see you do a little turn nice and slow" a females voice says

We drop our stuff and turn around slowly

We see a girl that isn't older than 12 holding the gun and a girl behind her that's our age.

"Who are you" the girl asks us

"I'm cal. This is biff and this is Sandra from centerville" Jughead says pointing to us

"I don't like liars shoot 'em gracie" the girl says and the 12 year old raises the gun

"Wait wait we got robbed on a train they took all our money we've been walking for days just we're looking for some food and some water and we'll be on our way" Archie says

"Put the rifle down" the girl tells Gracie

"I don't trust them" Gracie says

"Do as I say" she orders and Gracie listens

"I'm Laurie lake this is Gracie you like stew?" Laurie asks us.

We eat "this is really good thank you" I say to her And she gives me a small smile

"So where's everyone else?" Archie asks and Laurie stares at him "I only meant a farm this size I thought there would be more people working it" arch says

"A lot of the men in town are at a job down the river, our father and our brother went with them but they come back every now and then, you guys have somewhere to stay for the night?"? Laurie asks us

"We're good" jug says
"No" arch says and they both look at each other
"We should be getting out of your hair" Jughead says
"What my brother means is we are very grateful for your hospitality but we don't want to impose" I say

"You could stay the night if you don't mind sleeping in the barn" Laurie says

"That would be amazing is there anything we can do to repay you" arch asks and Jughead clears his throat to which i elbow him to tell him to shut up
