     FIRST AND FINAL PHASE

“He saw me.”  I say, gesturing wildly.  “He saw me.  I know he did.  God, I can’t believe this happened.”

“We were almost out of there.”  Weston says.

“Yeah, if you would’ve moved your butt a little faster maybe I could’ve gotten out of dodge.”  I say to him, though I don’t really mean it as serious as I sound.

His eyebrows raise.  “Me? I was practically on the ground.  You were the one that was acting like you wanted to stare Jackson straight in the face.”

Jocelyn holds out her hands to silence us.  “Guys, shut up.  It’s both of your faults.”

I turn towards her, slightly stunned.  “Thanks for the reassurance, buddy.”

“Come on,” Kristina speaks up, smiling.  An attempt I believe she’s using to lighten the mood.  “Let’s not point the blame.  So maybe Jackson saw you leaving, Addelyn.  So what?  That’s good for us.  It gives us the opportunity to make changes.”

“What changes?”  Jocelyn asks. “We don’t have time for any more changes or mistakes.  Prom is in three days.  Three.  After Prom, we won’t have another chance to go out with a bang.  It’ll be over. In fact, it might already be over.  Jackson’s not going to use that makeup, which totally sets us back.  And now, we’re going to be screwed for the whole rest of the time, because he’ll be totally suspicious.”

“And that’s exactly what we want.”  Kristina says, causing everyone to stare at her as if she were insane.  “We want Jackson to be suspicious.  It’s great that he is!  Because now, we have a very easy ride straight into the next part of our plan.”

“What are you talking about?”  Chris asks.  “What are we going to do?”

“We’re going to do absolutely nothing.”  She replies.

Silence falls over the group.  No one wants to say a word.  But Jocelyn, who takes a few seconds to compose herself, finally opens her mouth.  “Have you lost your mind?!  Didn’t you hear what I just said?  We have three days to close this plan out!  And you want us to spend one of those days doing nothing?!”
