This chapter takes place during Season 5 Episode 21. I am not responsible for spoilers in the comments.

"Marley," She tensed at the sound of his voice, she could hear the storm brewing. "What did you do?"

Sam glanced between the two, clueless as to what his brother was talking about. Marley turned her head to look at Dean, and the fear and anger in his eyes almost broke her right then and there. The guilt that flashed in her gray eyes was the only confirmation he needed.

"You made a deal." Dean's voice was dangerously low as he looked at her, but it increased in intensity when he didn't receive an answer. "You made a deal, didn't you?"

Marley's brain was whirling. There were so many different ways to handle this, and none of them seemed right. If she had just had some more time to think of how she wanted to explain this to him...

"Yes, I made a deal." Marley took a hesitant step towards him. "We needed Death's location, and at least with this deal my soul stays in tact."

Dean shook his head and looked away from her, but Sam turned to her, sadness in his eyes, but also confusion. "You get to keep your soul?"

Marley nodded her head. "All I have to do is work for him for 10 years, and then I'm done."

Dean looked at her, finally managing to funnel all of his feelings into anger. "So you agreed to be his freaking lap dog."

"It's only a few years, Dean." Marley was torn between pleading with him to understand her, and yelling at him for not being grateful that she had taken the deal.

"10 years is a little more than a few." Dean snapped.

The more pissy he got, the more she was leaning towards the latter option. "Yeah but at least I can keep my soul, it seemed like a pretty good deal."

"Are you kidding me right now?" He inclined his head towards as if asking if she was stupid. "It's a demon deal, Marley! It's never a good deal!"

Marley glared at him. "What, so you would rather have Bobby sell his soul? Cause let's be honest here, every time there's a problem that your family needs to solve, you just throw one of your souls away to fix it!"

Dean took a step towards her, he was seething. "I didn't want anyone dealing with a demon!"

"Well too bad, Dean! Our options were make a deal or lose the world."

"We could've made a third option!"

"Like what?" Marley stood her ground, but Dean kept closing the distance between them, taking a step each time he spoke as if that would make her see his side better.

"Like... I don't know," He threw his hands out to the side before letting them flop with a thud against his jacket. "Cas could've asked the angels for help."

"The same Cas that's all but been exiled from heaven for helping you?"

"Whatever! We would've found another way!" The anger had pinched all of his facial features together and he came to a stop a few feet away from her.

"There's not always a third option Dean. If you and Sam are supposed to be Michael and Lucifer's vessels, the least I can do is try and give you guys a fighting chance at winning against archangels and freaking biblical prophecy."

"This isn't your fight Marley." His hands were clenched into fists by his side.

"It's the end of the world Dean, yeah it is!"

"You should have just stayed out of it!" The veins in his neck were bulging out, every ounce of him pulsating with forced anger.

"Why?!"
