This chapter takes place during Season 5 Episode 10. I am not responsible for spoilers in the comments.

Steam was rising from the hot pavement, cooled by the recent rain, adding to the eeriness of the town. They had their windows rolled down, the boys trying to get reception on their phones, and Marley was leaning with her head out the window.

"You smell anything back there Wolfie?"

Marley pulled herself back into the car and shook her head. "Nothing fresh. Hard to tell, but even the most recent is at least a day old."

Dean nodded as he gestured for Ellen to pull up beside him. The streets were empty, the only semblance of people living here were "Missing" posters blowing on telephone poles.

"Place seem a little empty to you?" Ellen asked sarcastically.

"We're gonna go check out the PD, you guys stay here, see if you can find anybody."

Ellen nodded and Dean drove off further into town. He pulled up in front of the police station and the trio hopped out of the car to head inside. The blinds tapped lightly against the glass, as they fell back into their previously still position, as the door closed behind them.

"It's like War all over again." Marley mumbled to herself as she looked through some files scattered on top of a deputy's desk.

Dean and Sam both looked over at her with confusion evident on their faces. She looked up at their silence and shrugged.

"Everything left like this. It's not a rush like with War, not fear based. But still, they didn't plan on leaving."

Sam glanced around, nodding in agreement, before he headed towards the back to check the holding cells. Meanwhile, Dean walked behind the desk to check the phone for messages to see if there were any clues in them. A few minutes later Sam finally returned.

"Station's completely empty."

Dean clicked the receiver back into place. "Just messages about people going missing, but nothing since last night."

"So whatever happened, no one was panicking." Marley said, her head tilted slightly in confused thought.

"Alright, well let's go meet up with the rest of the gang, see if they found anything."

As they walked down the steps, Ellen's red truck turned onto the street and pulled to a stop in front of them.

"Station's empty."

"So is everything else." Jo spoke, her gaze darting between the three of them.

"Have you seen Cas?" Ellen asked them.

"What?" Sam's voice rose in pitch, as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "He was with you."

"Nope." Ellen gave a small shake of her head. "He went after the reapers."

"Reapers?" Marley glanced between the girls and Dean. "Like harvest your soul, black hooded cloak, large scythe, grim reaper, reaper?"

"They're like angels." Jo clarified for her. "Same gist as what you've heard, but they don't look like the stereotype that books show us."

"Huh." Marley nodded her head, processing the information.

"Where?" Sam spoke up, trying to figure out what exactly they were dealing with.

"Well kind of... everywhere."

Dean sighed. "Alright well let's go find the son of a gun."

Everyone grabbed their shotguns and gear from the trunks of their respective vehicles and headed out. Their footsteps echoed through the empty street, paired with the occasional splash if one of them stepped in a puddle.
