~Chapter 11~

“Megan are you done yet? We're going to go be late for the train ride if you keep stalling,” Trevor said banging on the hotel door.

“I’m not stalling for your information and--” Megan said opening the door. “I’m already finished. We could go to the train now,” she started rolling her suitcase to the elevator leaving Trevor behind.

“I’ll just get my suitcase as well then,” Trevor said as he hurried back to his room trying to catch up with Megan.

“Hurry up. I’m about to leave you,” Megan said taunting Trevor pressing the button for the elevator making the sound ring in her ears. Trevor finally caught up carrying all his belongings and escorted Megan to the elevator. Three floors later they reached the lobby and took in one last sight it. Megan rushed and headed towards the front desk to check them out of the hotel.

“Hope you had a nice stay miss. Hope to see you again,” the manager said seeing Megan head out the door and into the streets.

Trevor followed soon after and went beside her just as she got into the cab. Megan told the driver to go to the train station in the front seat and put her things in the trunk of the cab. The clock read 5:30 and they were soon on their way to the station with 30 minutes to spare. The station was still as busy as ever since they first arrived even early in the morning. The cab made an abrupt stop at one of the street corners and parked. Megan gave him the amount due and she quickly took her things from the trunk as well as handing them to Trevor. She thanked the driver and went into the station to get a better view of the map placed in the nearby walls. People with suitcases just like her, dress suits, casual wear, warm attire, and mini purses surrounded her and Trevor as they stood in the center of it all to try and find the stop they were supposed to be in, in five minutes. The station had been so vibrant filled with various artworks and graffiti covering the granite walls. At this point Megan was so flustered with herself and the dozens of maps and pamphlets she held in between her fingers.

“It’s over here!” Trevor said trying to get Megan’s attention in the crowd.

Megan rushed towards the stop and went into the train following Trevor who was right in front of her. They made their way to their seats handed their tickets to the conductor who was collecting them.

They pushed their luggage beneath their seats and sat into their spots. Luckily for Trevor and Megan their section hadn’t been too packed just as the train had started to make its way to Cannes so they could use up most of the space for themselves. As it was expected Megan fell asleep in between the first fifteen minutes of the train ride leaning her head against the side window. Trevor was pretty tired himself too and before he knew it was sleeping on one of the metal wall dividers that separated the other two seats. They were both sound asleep until the train made a distinctive stop all of a sudden. They lifted their heads up to see what was happening outside the window at the same time awakening from their sleep and hour into the journey.

“Hey what’s going on?” Megan asked in a groggy voice as she tried to look at the window as her vision started to clear up.

“There’s something wrong with the machine work in the back of the train so they’re trying to fix it now. At least that’s what I heard from the people further down,” Trevor responded taking a glance of the sight and then putting his head back to its original position.

“It’s probably going to be fixed up soon anyway. I’m going back to sleep too,” Megan said turning around, not wanting to pay too much attention to the ruckus outside.

The least she needed was more stress in that situation. Fifteen minutes later everything went back to normal and the train situation seemed to fix itself with no further issues. It was three more hours into the train ride and Megan finally woke up this time. Stretching out her arms and legs was the first thing she did to get her more awake as well as rubbing her eyes to get out of the groggy feeling she had earlier when she suddenly woke up. She looked to her right side and was so happy to see that Trevor had not woken up yet. The last thing she needed was him asking a bazillion number of questions that she didn’t really want to answer in the first place. She wanted to be well prepared and aware when she goes to Cannes and there was only one more hour of anxiousness resting on her shoulder. Something about going to places that she wasn’t really familiar with or have never ever been to get Megan very excited but also made her so impatient with the time that had to be between that aka all the waiting. Megan kept looking back and forth at the digital clock that was installed into the wall every five minutes or so bored out of her mind. It was definitely a bad decision not to bring anything to entertain you in a now six hour train ride. Now she learned that the hard way. Looking out the window seemed to be her best option until she finally realized she had brought a book along with her that she was supposed to read during the plane ride to London but never got to doing. She dug through her bag and finally found the book, “Looking for Alaska” by John Green in the bottom of all the maps, candies, and daily essentials. She flipped through the pages to try and find the spot where she left off and began to read from there on.
