Gon Freecss is starting his sophomore year of high school after being transferred due to some very unfortunate events that happened at his previous school. He's a lonely kid who gets a chance to start anew at his new school in York New City, "Hunter High".
Killua Zoldyck is the most popular kid at hunter high, not only are both his parents extremely successful and rich, the young Zoldyck himself is athletic, smart, and extremely good looking. Yet he doesn't care about the popularity. Quite frankly is annoys him, especially being hit on by every girl imaginable. He doesn't enjoy school until a certain Spiky haired green bean catches his eye.
