I Am Lacerta Chapter 46

When I woke up it was pitch black and Fred and George were long gone. In fact, everyone was gone – the whole infirmary was empty except for me. It was eerie, like there was someone watching me.. although I knew it was just a feeling.

I lay back, relaxing, when suddenly I realised that I really needed to see the Dark Lord. He would definitely want to know about all of this.

So I held down my Dark Mark, biting back a yell of pain, and apparated – feeling a tug at my navel as I hurled across space and time towards him.

Suddenly, I landed down on the ground, face first. My nose smashed into the floor and was throbbing when a cold, high-pitched voice sliced the air saying:

                “Lacerta?”

My head snapped up and I scrambled to my feet and stood before him, before bowing low, all the time ignoring the pulsing pain in my nose.

“Where have you been? I expected you to report back to me 2 days ago!” snapped the Dark Lord acidly.

“I was taken against my will by Dolores Umbridge – she’s a big figure in the Ministry, apparently very chummy with Fudge – but she’s gone to Hogwarts to keep an eye on Dumbledore. Anyway, Umbridge took me about 9:30 yesterday and tortured me through the day and night for information about the disappearances and killings. I obviously didn’t tell her anything..”

“Good. So, any good torture methods?” Voldemort asked me lightly, as if we were discussing the weather.

“Well, she was all for the Cruciatus Curse, and she really liked her dagger – “ I lifted up my sleeve to display my LIAR scar “-so when I escaped I nicked her dagger to spite her.” I lifted my cloak away and showed him the sheath containing the knife.

“How did you say you got away?” he asked, mildly interested.

“Umbridge had to go off and teach a class so she left Filch, the caretaker, in charge. But what she doesn’t know is that Filch is a dirty squib, so I overthrew him with ease. Knocked down her door, nicked her dagger and left sharpish. I then stopped by Snape so he could give me a blood replenishing potion, but I passed out. He kept me going until I woke up, then I apparated here.” I said quickly, lying smoothly.

“Very good, Lacerta. I’m glad you escaped, but I still need you up at Hogwarts. I have need of you here sometimes though, of course, but you can just fly down here when I need you. Besides, I really want your moth- parents out of Azkaban as soon as possible.” I nodded and he continued.

“Oh and by the way, I have someone I’d like you to meet. Lacerta meet Aoife O’Hara. She’s our newest Death Eater. Aoife, this is Lacerta Lestrange, our youngest death eater. But don’t let her looks deceive you – she’s as bloodthirsty as the devil when she wants to be.”

I looked over at where he was pointing and saw a woman in her early twenties with raven black hair and large gold eyes like a hawk. She smiled at me kindly, clearly she WAS a new death eater, and I nodded briskly, but kept my face clear of all emotions.

“Lacerta, I would like you to keep an eye on Aoife. She’s a pureblood, and very bright, but she’s not completely sure about this life. Watch her closely…” he murmured the last part so only I could hear. “She’ll be staying at Malfoy Manor. Her things are there already. Take her now.” I bowed low until I could practically lick the floor.

“Thank you, my Lord.” I said quietly, then I looked to Aoife to see her looking at me incredulously. “If you must stay, I suggest you get used to the way we do things, Aoife.” I said coldly in response to her look. She looked at me, bewildered at the harshness of my tone, before bowing low clumsily. I looked to the Dark Lord for approval and saw that he looked pleased.

I then gave Aoife another look which clearly indicated her to follow me, and I turned around, hearing her footsteps behind me.

“Like mother, like daughter..” I heard her mutter, before turning her tone much brighter. “Thanks a million for this, Lacerta.” Aoife said with an extremely Irish accent.

I grunted non-committaly in response, before noting:

                “Nice accent.”

“Thanks. So, how’re we getting to your place?” she asked.

“Couldn’t you just apparate us?” I asked, hopefully.

“I’ve never been before, I don’t know where it is.” I sighed frustrated.

“Do you know how to fly a thestral?” I asked and she raised an eyebrow.

                “What’s a thestral?” she asked.

“An animal, that’s a bit like a horse but can fly. It can only be seen by those who have witnessed death. Have you seen anyone die?” I asked bluntly, not realising how insensitive the question was.

“Yes. Lord Voldemort killed my whole family in front of me, er.. recently. I’m here to avenge them…” she said, grinding her teeth together, before realising she’d told her secret plan to a clear extreme pro-Voldemort Death Eater.

She opened her mouth to speak, but I put my hand up to silence her.

“I won’t tell him, Aoife. I may be as “bloodthirsty” as he says, but I am a thirteen-year old. I’m not all bad, but I warn you the Dark Mark will change you.” I lifted my left sleeve and showed her mine to prove my point. “It heightens anger and passionate emotions. You get nightmares. I think I’m going crazy and I only got mine a month ago… but it might just be me..” I trailed off, staring into blank space and I heard Aoife gulp nervously, which brought me back to my senses.

“Anyway enough waiting let’s go home.” I said and morphed into a Hippogriff. Aoife looked stunned for a moment before saying:

“You’re an animagus too?” I shook my head, brushing off the “too” – she probably meant a friend or relative was one, and morphed back to human form.

                “No, I’m metamorphmagus.” I said.

“Whoah, cool! My best mate’s one of those. Really rare I heard – can’t do that though, obviously…” Aoife trailed off.

“Ah, so you’ve met my cousin. Tonks, isn’t it?”

                “Yes… how did you know?”

“You’re right – it is rare. Me and my cousin are the only two live metamorphmagus’ at the moment. I know it’s not me, obviously, so it must be her. Now let’s go already!” I said and morphed back. She pulled my feathers as she tried to get up and I winced. We took off quickly into the night – like a white flash shrouded in black…..

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT!!! U NOW NO WHO AOIFE O'HARA IS!!!!!!!! HOPE U LOVED THE CHAPPY XXX BYE FOR NOW
