I Am Lacerta Chapter 9

I flew on my broomstick the same route I had been flying all year to visit him. When I got to his cave, I dismounted my broom as silently as possible, and left it by the enterance to the cave as I walked inside. "Hello! Anybody home!?" I said loudly, before seeing him crouched in the corner of the cave. "Hey, look who it is. It's baby Bellatrix! What's up honey? Why are you cryin-" I cut him off with a bone-crushing hug.

"Sirius!! I've missed you so much! Sorry I haven't been to visit very often, what with everything going on, the end of year exams and everything, I lost track of tim-" "That's not important now, seriously Lacerta, what are you doing here?" "He's back, Sirius. He's back and he's found me. I don't know what to do! I'm only 14 and-and ..... he's making me go back to that- that h-horrible place... making me do horrible things.... I have to complete his wishes, he's going to train me up... I don't k-know what t-to d-do. A-and all I want i-i-is to go b-back to H-hogwarts... but now I never can, but I'm in l-love and I don't think I can ever see him again..." I said, but broke down in tears at the end.

Sirius pulled me into a hug, saying: "Sh, it's okay Lacy. You don't have to be a deatheater like your mother. Look at me - everyone thought I would be a deatheater, but I wasn't!" he murmured to me softly. "Besides, your not an evil person. You have just had evilness thrust upon you, and instead of accepting this life, Lacy, you have to fight it." Once I had quietened down, he tried to cheer me up by saying, "So, who's this boy? Anyone I know?" I smiled at him before saying proudly, "He's a Weasley. Fred, one of the twins. He's hilarious - never stops making people laugh, and he's funny and kind... but it doesn't matter. We can't ever be properly together.."

Sirius laughed at what I said, so I glared him the infamous "Lacerta Glare" before saying, "Oh, do you find my pain funny? Does it amuse you that I'm a complete mess? Does that count as entertainment in your sad little world?". But Sirius wasn't taken aback by what I said, he had known me long enough to know that I wouldn't ever hurt him. "I was just thinking about what my cousin would say if she knew her daughter was dating a Weasley. I think she'd have a heart attck - I hope so anyway!" he laughed.

"Well, I can hardly call it dating..." I said sheepishly. "Oh, honey don't worry about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, join me - we could live together somewhere, just you and me..." "And Harry Bloody Potter!" I said sarcastically. "Not bloody likely." "Well, I have to look out for him - he's my godson. Imagine if your best friends were killed and you were entrusted with their child. You'd like him if you got to know him.." "I've known him longer than you have... Sirius he'd hate me, HATE me, if you tried to introduce us - I'm from the evil half of the family and the place I call "home" is the house of his enemy.

"Besides, if he's such a good person, tell me - how many times did he visit you this year?" "Um, just once." "Ah, okay, and how many times did yours truly visit you?" I asked. He sighed before saying, "Ten times, bu-" "So it would seem that I am a better, more reliable version of "The Chosen One"-" "You don't understand-" "I guess, I don't-" "He's a wonderful person-" "He's an obnoxious twat-" "His life hasn't exactely been butterflies and rainbows has it-" "Well, incase you hadn't noticed - neither's mine-" "He saved my life-" "I saved your life-"

"OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!" shouted Sirius eventually. "Stop comparing yourself to Harry Potter! You're completely different people and I care for you both, no matter what you say." "I never said otherwise, I was merely pointing out that I was a better person as I came and brought you food TEN TIMES -once even sneaking out in the dead of night-" "Give it a rest, Lacerta-" "Alright, alright! Jeez, aren't people allowed an opinion nowadays?"

Sirius sighed. "Just think about joining me, okay? We could do such great things together, Lacy." I sighed aswell, before saying: "I can't Sirius. Whenever I see the Dark Lord, I go into a sort of trance. I'm not normal like I am now - I say things and do things I would NEVER EVER say in my right mind! I'm a whole different person, and I hate it." I replied, my voice full of self-loathing and disgust.

"You can fight it, Lacy! You risked your soul being sucked out to prove a theory, you're the bravest fourteen-year-old I know-" "What about Harry Potter? I can't possibly be as brave as "precious Potter"? When he was my age he saved you from 100 deatheaters-" "You were in your second year when you rescued from Azkaban-" "Oh of course, but when "darling Harry Potter" was my age, he fought a giant snake all on his own to defend the school's muggle borns-" "God stop comparing yourself to Harry!" "Oh, I forgot - he's your precious "god-son"! Will I go then - if I'm bothering you so much? I have to get going really - places to go, people to see."

My tone started off infuriated, but I calmed down enough to say: "I'm really sorry - I do have to get going. Cissy will be expecting me back any minute. I'll write you all the time, uncle - don't you worry. Bye, Sirius. Bye Buckbeak.", giving the great Hippogriff a bow, before stoking his head. I then bent down to Sirius' level, where he was crouched on the floor, and kissed his cheek. "'Kay, bye Lacy. Lova ya, I'll write you this evening if I can." Sirius said, giving me a half-hearted smile, before I flew off into the night.
