I Am Lacerta Chapter 4

That night I was heading back to the Slytherin Common Room after saying goodnight to Luna, when I heard voices. I recognised one as Fred immediately, and after a few seconds I realised who the second voice was. I couldn't move, incase they heard me so I sat tight, hardly breathing, and listened to their conversation.

"Ginny, I can look after myself, OK? I don't need my baby sister giving me advice thanks." said Fred stubbornly.

"Don't you see Fred? That little freak is using you to get to me. She'll go out with you for a while then she'll drop you and break your heart. I bet that's what she does for fun, that wierdo.." replied Ginny, equally as stubborn. "I know her Fred - not like you know her, and she has like NO friends! She's a freak Fred, and everyone sees it but you. Infact I have no idea what you see in her-" Ginny was cut off by Fred shouting:

"Don't you DARE insult Lacerta in front of me! And are you really that self-centered - you think she's going out with me to get to you? Get over yourself Ginny - the world doesn't revolve around you!"

I was beaming with pride - he defended me!

"Fine, I won't - but let me say this: Lacerta is not good enough for you. You don't even know her last name do you?" Ginny asked spitefully - I could practically hear her smirk.

"So what if she hasn't told me her full name yet? It hardly makes a difference does it?!" Fred yelled. I gulped silently, praying she wouldn't tell him.

"It makes a massive difference Fred - because her name's Lacerta Lestrange. You know as in Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange, Voldemort's right hand woman and one of his top followers? Her parents are at this very moment rotting away in Azkaban with life sentences for carrying out his dirty work. Now do you understand me when I tell you she's not good for you?" Ginny finished smugly.

I was literally in shock. I was desperate to know what Fred was thinking. I had to just sit the awkward silence out until suddenly Fred said:

"Well, of course she didn't tell me that, Gin! It would be a bit full on having just met don't you think?! She's probably embarresed by her parents - who would want parents like that? Anyway I've had enough, goodnight Ginny."

"But-"

"I don't want to hear it." he growled. I would have paid all the money in the Lestrange Vault just to see the look on her face at that moment, but I knew I had to stay hidden. Eventually I heard her huff and stalk off after him - so I was free to go.

I walked back to Slytherin Common Room silently, trying to refrain from running off after Ginny Weasley and killing her for trying to ruin my life more than she already has...
