Time for history.
When North Carolina was founded (AKA Roanoke Colony) They named it Virginia, so North Carolina was called Virginia. Carolina was the founded years later, It split into North and South Carolina, and the strip once known as Virginia became North Carolina, So technically in the State humans Universe, they are Biological siblings and all I can hear in my head is Sweet Home Alabama.
