Chapter Six

(Part One)

Welcome To Reality....

Point of view: Jeremy

"Can you drop me off at home? The kids are there by themselves." I heard Derek ask Chris as he walked down the hallway towards us.

Chris turned and gazed into my eyes, looking very reluctant to leave me alone, even if for a few minutes. I couldn't help but notice just how bright blue his eyes were, as he gazed into mine.

"I'll be okay by myself." I timidly answered and forced a small smile.

"I don't know," he continued as he debated with himself.

"Chris, i'm a man. I can take care of myself." I spoke more forcefully, staring defiantly up at my husband. Looking up at him, I realized just how big of a man he was compared to me. I had to admit that his toned body and muscles were impressive, and he was absolutely drop dead gorgeouse. And thinking he was good looking didn't make me the least bit gay, it just showed that I was content with my sexuality. "Now go!" I crossed my arms over my chest standing my ground.

He threw his hands up in the air with a playful smirk on his face. "Alrite, i'm going."

He reached into his pants pocket and handed me a phone. I twirled it around in my hand, looking at it from different angles.

"Call me if anything goes wrong. Just hold down the number one and it will automatically call me." He stated as he stared into my eyes. It always made me self conscious, and I looked away embarressed from his lingering gaze, and nodded.

"I will..." I trailed off softly, avoiding his gaze.

"Great," he stated. I looked back up to still find him standing in the same spot watching me, still looking just as reluctant to leave. Derek grabbed him by the arm and began dragging him away. He looked back over his shoulder, so I smiled and waved to him.

"I'll be okay." I laughed softly as he disappeared around the corner.

Once I heard the front door close, I hesitantly walked down the hall and stairs, to the door to lock it behind them just to be on the safe side. I rested my back against the door, and heaved a huge sigh when I noticed just how quiet it had gotten. Being alone and without Chris for the first time sence I woke up in the hospital made me realize just how lonely it was without him here. And he just left a moment ago.

"Okay," I spoke out loud to no one in particular. "I can do this." I pushed off the door and headed back to the bathroom.

I looked around my surroundings as I walked through the spacious living room, I paused in my trek to the staircase as something out the huge window caught my eye. The window looked out to the side of the house, unlocking the latch, I threw it open. I breathed in the fresh air that smelled of dew and lilacs, but what caught my eye were the many colorful flowers in the garden just outside the window. It was a huge garden full of many different flowers, I leaned down on the sill of the window, took in a huge breath, and gently ran a finger over the petal of a white rose.

I sighed reluctantly and stood up, I really needed to take a bath. I was tired of feeling like there was grim and sickness coating a layer of my skin from my hospital stay. But, I was definitely coming back to this window, even if to just sit on the sill and look out at the garden.
