The cursed singularity

Barbie's POV

I sighed.

I've been looking through anything about Kathy Diana Roberts......

The only thing I found out that she lived in an old place outside the town, locking herself away from the world.

I huffed as I got up from the computer.

I went to the kitchen to grab some orange juice.

"Hey, how did your investigation go?" Cassandra asked while eating some burger.

I shrugged. "I found her address."

Then she went to the room and looked at the GPS that was on the computer.

"She lives nearby. Let's go!" she declared.

I looked at her confused. "Right now?"

She nodded.
"Yes, right now! Unless you want to deal with serial killers," she replied sternly.

I sighed.
She had a point.

I got up.

Even though I was kinda tired...... I had no choice.

"Okay, let's go," I replied.

After I got changed I grabbed my backpack and put my stuff in it.

Suddenly one paper fell on the ground.

I picked it up and it was one of the drawings my grandfather drew.

It was of a personal servant I guess.

Cassandra entered the room.

"That's Tom Buddler. Queen's personal servant. He was also in charge of keeping the Queen's jeweleries safe, especially the Jewel of Roberts," she explained.

I looked at her surprised.

"But what does this have to do with the singularity?" I asked.

She shrugged. "Guess we're gonna find out when we ask Aunt Kathy about it."

After that we got into the car.

Why does grandpa want me to find the singularity? Can I really do it?
What if I cannot make it out alive?

I sighed.
Dunbar was already after me......

And now cherry on the top, I had to deal with more people like this.

Right then Cassandra got in the car.

"Hey, you okay?" she asked worriedly.

"I don't know, Cass. I don't know.
Sometimes, all of this seems hopeless," I replied.

She put her hand on my shoulder.

"Listen, it's okay to be afraid. I know how you feel. You have been dealing with Sligo for about a week. Try eighteen years with him, like how I did.
But you're Barbie Roberts. You are one of the strongest people I've ever seen," she said.

I smiled weakly. "But........ what if I mess up?"

She smiled at me.

"Tell you what....... I want to tell you a secret. Agent Klondike has been watching you for a very long time. He was the one who suggested you three to Miss. Z," she stated.

I looked up at her shocked.

"You see, Agent Klondike has suspected Dunbar for a long time. He always knew something was fishy about Dunbar. And they had a very rough relationship. Agent Klondike realized that the key to expose him was.......you," she said.
