IN a warehouse, somewhere on the outskirts of Gotham city, Bruce was experiencing the most difficult puzzle of his life.

He was occupied with unscrewing a bolt from a plane he purchased for a ton of money, in hopes it would be of good use. With the odds of her ever starting up, he was starting to think she was a waste of money. "You know, I paid millions of dollars for this building's security." He said out loud once he heard the clicking of heels behind him.

"It looked expensive... but you got your money's worth. Took me almost a minute to disable it." Diana spoke while starring at the plane in awe.

He turned around, leaning on the railing with the wrench in his hands. Bruce gave an awkward smile towards Diana. "Hi there."

She couldn't help but smile back. "A new toy?"

Bruce looked up at the plane. "Prototype troop carrier."

Diana sighed in recollection of Steve, her beloved pilot. "I once knew a man who would have loved to fly it."

"The best minds at Wayne Aerospace couldn't make it fly." Bruce spoke.

"But you can?" She asked with a raised brow.

The man shrugged tiredly while turning back to look at the ship. "I have no choice. I need more range and I need more cargo." He looked back at Diana. "I think there's an attack coming."

"Not coming, Bruce." From the shadows, Jess stepped out with a burgundy leather jacket, a black t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and some red boot heels. "It's already here." Bruce felt his whole world stop at the sight of her.

"Jess?" He asked with furrowed brows. He had to blink a few times to make sure he wasn't seeing things. He hasn't had the best night sleep since he learned of Jess disappearance. Then again, when has he ever had a decent night's sleep?

Jess couldn't help but give a timid smile. "Hi Bruce."

The dark knight couldn't help the many questions racking his brain. "Where have you been? Your mother and Lois have been worried sick about you."

Diana And Jess both made eye contact with each other. "I'm afraid that story is for another time." She cut in.

"From what I've learned, they are things from another universe. They serve a dark power. An old power." Jess explained while tucking her right hand into her pocket.

Bruce placed his wrench down on his worktable. "What do they want?"

Jess sighs. "To invade. To conquer. They came here once, long ago. A great armada appeared in the sky, laying waste to all who opposed it. The leader of the invaders was a being called Darkseid. A name cursed and feared in every universe. Darkseid was met in battle by Earth's defenders. The old gods, men, Atlanteans before their descent into the sea, Amazons before their betrayal and enslavement, and guardians from the stars. Their histories had taught them not to trust each other, not to hope for an alliance. To fight apart."
