"Think Of All The Beauty Still Left Around You And Be Happy" - Anne Frank

Melody🤍

Melody's first class was finally over, and next, she had art. The girl was packing up when she saw whateverhisnameis still sleeping beside her. Melody took this chance to look at his face. His hair was dark but not black. His skin was a warm beige, obviously white but not pale. He also had bags under his eyes, indicating that he didn't get much sleep. But, of course, that made sense seeing that he was knocked out for half the class.

Silver jewelry littered his body from his neck to his hands. He had long eyelashes and pink-tinted lips. He also had his ears pierced but wasn't wearing any earrings.

"You like what you see?" she jumped back wide-eyed, almost letting out a scream.

"Why would you do that?" Melody whisper-yelled, looking at him like he was crazy.

"Why were you staring at me, " he smirked back, getting his bag and standing up.

"I-"

"Lukieeeeeeeeee," she heard behind her. Melody quickly turned around to see a white boy with golden-brown wavy hair and a red cap walking towards them, laughing. He was about the same height as the guy that showed her around.

Lukie? Melody questioned in her head. Is his name Luke or something?

"Carter," He greeted, rolling his eyes and meeting him with a handshake.

They went walking out of class talking, so Melody decided not to bother them. The new girl had another class anyway, and chances were she would get lost along the way.

She finally made it to art class and looked for a seat, preferably in the back. The seats were in pairs, and the one available was by someone she thought was another girl. Melody sat down and pulled out her appropriate supplies. The person beside her noticed and sat up, pulling their hair out of their face.

"Hi, I'm-

"All right, enough talking, class, for anyone new, my name is Mrs. Lee, and I'm going to be your teacher for your Senior year. And to start the year, you will have a project! So, your partner will be who you're sitting next to, and you're supposed to make a portrait incorporating both of your personalities. There will be more information later, but it's due one month from now," the teacher informed, passing out a rubric.

After she said there were mixed emotions in the class, Melody was okay with working with people even if it was only the first day, however, she couldn't be sure about the girl beside her. She let out a sigh, and Melody decided to talk to her. If they had to work together, they might as well get along.

"Hi, I'm Melody," she said, smiling. The girl just looked at her for a second before answering.

"I'm...Hazel," she replied calmly. Melody smiled. She had a really pretty name.

She was also very pretty; she was Asian and had slightly thin slanted eyes and long straight black hair. Melody also noticed that she was tall, at least taller than Melody. She wore ripped baggy jeans, an oversized black graphic tee, and name-brand sneakers.

"So, you're the new girl, I'm guessing," she stated, waiting for Melody's answer

"Yea, why?"

"I'm just curious since everyone has been talking about some new girl hanging around Luca," she replied

"Who's that?" Melody asked, thinking back to the other student she talked to today.

"Luca Romano, he has a brother, anger issues, probably clinical depression, you know, the usual."

Romano, that's the last name of the guy who showed Melody around. She figured he had to be Luca but asked more questions anyway.

"Does he have dark hair and blue eyes?" she questioned

"Yep, so you have met him," Hazel confirmed

"Yea, he showed me around the school," Mel replied. Her eyes instantly widened, and a slight shock took over her face.

"Luca Romano showed you around the school?" she asked, emphasizing 'Romano.' Even in surprise, she looked slightly unamused.

"Yea?" Melody questioned, not understanding the emphasis.

"No way, he hates everyone in this school, including his best friend." she retorts.

"The vice principal made him do it." the brown girl shrugged.

"And he did it? " Wow, good for you," she replied humorously, giving Melody what looked to be a nod of approval.

"What?" Melody laughed. "I'm sure he only did it because the vice principal asked him to, plus she literally cut him off as he was declining, and she ran away right after." Melody chuckled at the thought.

"Mmmmm, ok if you say so, but Luca doesn't listen to anybody. So I doubt that would stop him from walking away if he really wanted to," she replied, flipping through the rubric.

"I mean, I guess. So why are you in this class? Was it mandatory, or did you choose it?" Melody asked, filling out a short questionnaire Mrs. Lee gave out.

"Are you kidding? I chose this class. Art is super entertaining, and this class is super chill most of the time,"

"So, you like drawing? Most kids I meet in art classes are just there to sleep." They laughed at the obliviousness. Art is usually very forgiving in that sense, but it doesn't mean you don't have to do work.

"For sure. You wanna see some of my work from last year?"

We looked at some of the art pieces hung up in the room. One painting caught Melody's eye. It was a skull with a snake wrapped around it... or in it. Hazel explained that she just painted what she felt for that assignment, which wasn't creepy at all.

They were talking about some other kids' work when a loud noise of what seemed to be the bell went off. Since the two girls did nothing but talk, they decided to brainstorm at lunch.

A/N: I have no idea how I forgot to do an a/n, but what do u think of Hazel and Carter? I like them, obviously, but I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
