Our spiritual traditions must be wed to a sense of social justice. If they are not, and they care more for creed and dogma over the plight of the poor and vulnerable, then our traditions are what Jesus called 'whited sepulchres.' Pretty to look at but filled with dead bones. May the poor be our creed, the hungry our dogma, and the world the temple where we encounter the divine in the beggar on the street corner.
