Two minutes. Two minutes until the last bell rings and I'm free. Two minutes. An eternity. My knee bounces up and down. I'm absentmindedly tapping my pencil.
I feel a push on my arm and see the girl next to me giving me a death glare.
'sorry' I mouth.
She rolls her eyes and goes back to writing her essay.
I was going to have homework tonight, but I didn't mind too much. I wasn't really thinking about it. I just want- no, not want- I need to get out of here. I haven't seen Sarah at all. She didn't wait for me after fifth hour so we could walk together and I haven't seen her in the halls like I normally do.
I slip my pencil in the bag as the clock hand turns. Yes, yes, yes!
I zip my bag and quietly slip it on my shoulder.
I hear a deep inhale of breath as the bell rings. The teacher woke up. Yup. I had that teacher. "Okay, class-" he started, but I was already gone.
I hurry to the student parking lot, where my mom said she would pick me up. I see a shine of silver and hurry to where she's waiting.
"Hey," I breathe as I get in.
All I get is a grunt in response.
