Have you reached a point in your life where, no matter what step you take, you are met with defeat? Defeat can manifest as losing a tennis match, engaging in a heated argument with a family member, or being ridiculed by classmates. It can even mean losing your sense of self. What do all of these instances of defeat have in common? They involve grappling with adversity, with the implicit message that my emotions don't matter. I'm simply labeled as 'bad.' But are my emotions truly negative, and am I truly a 'bad' person? Despite telling yourself otherwise, do you really believe it? I yearn for perfection.
