Standing alone in the middle of nothingness, he opens his eyes. The world that he tried to protect has long been gone along with everyone whom he loves dearly, leaving only his first partner who has been accompanying him since the first days of his second life.
With the new power he has acquired before the battle, he tries to go back in time.
However, he ends up getting stuck into a far past, the day when he got reincarnated. Realizing that it happens because of his own selfish dream and desire, he decides to accept what has happened, to start everything all over again for one more chance, as if there would be no any others.
Regrets and wishes are mixed into one as he embarks on his new journey together with his partner.

Melting the Eternal Frost - Book 1
This story depicts an alternate timeline wherein Velzard attends Walpurgis after sensing Veldora's presence. She subsequently meets our protagonist and becomes interested in him after his display at the meeting. After thinking for a bit, she decides to move to Tempest and becomes a close ally of Rimuru. Rimuru and Velzard will sometimes be out of character since it's unavoidable. Our protagonist will be more rational and have an actual spine, while Velzard will not be as cold and ruthless as her canon counterpart. Besides, Velzard lacks substantial characterization, so I decided to write my own interpretation of her personality based on the original light novel. I recommend at least having seen the second season of the anime since my story will pick up from there. This fanfic will follow the main story beats of the original light novel, so some arcs will be glossed over with minor changes. I'm somewhat OC, so expect a lot of chapter edits or updates, as I tend to reread chapters and catch minor mistakes here and there. (Note that this is Book 1 for the full story.)
