I ran and ran. I wasn't even sure just how far I had ran. Fleeing from the memories, from the expectations, from everything if I could have. Why couldn't I just be normal? Then with a force like a run away train I was rammed out of my own thoughts and thrown a few feet away landing on a knotted root sticking up through the earth. What the hell... I released a whimper then a growl. So lost in thought I hadn't smelt the intruder. I hadn't smelt HIM. He smelt delicious. Before me stood a jet black wolf. Extrodinary black the tips of his fur looked blue in the moonlight, bigger then any other wolf I had seen before. One of his paws was two of mine. I rose up from the damp earth and shook my body sending loose dirt flying. In an instant he was right in front of me his silver eyes flashing. With out a doubt he was angry. He isn't the only one. I thought to myself. This massive beast stepped toward me again and I snapped at the air close to his face, warning him to back off. Even though he was bigger then me I was unafraid to go down swinging.... In a split second he shifted back into a mere man and the anger flaring in his silver eyes once again. "Shift!" He commanded. No way. I thought. No way in hell was I about to be naked and at his mercy. He towered over me like a giant. As a wolf I had my teeth and my claws to protect me, as a human I was at an disavantage. I knew he could sense my hesitation. "Shift woman!" He commanded again. We both knew he would not ask a second time.
