When Kwesi (Kez) Zakari, Cardiology Consultant Secretary at St. Cross Children's hospital, hears that his old council estate has caught fire, his finally settled life is turned upside down. Not only is his Aunt, the only family he has left, now homeless, but he's also thrust back in contact with someone from his childhood that he'd been trying for ten years to forget. Callum Wright never seems to get things right. He just needs to do one more wrong thing then he can get his life back in order. But when his tower block catches fire, his chances of going down that rocky road is scuppered and sets him on a new path. Trouble is, Kez, his old best friend from the estate, comes back into his life to remind him of how he's never been able to get anything right. Kez hasn't got over what happened ten years ago, but he attempts to put the past behind him in order to help Callum get his future in some sort of order. But it's tricky when all those quashed feelings resurface for a man who can't ever be trusted. Kez will just have to constantly repeat the mantra that he really, seriously, most definitely, WON'T get fooled again.
