I've been reading stories here on Wattpad for years. I love coming here to see what amazing stories people have come up with, and to support the amateur writing community. I think this is a great platform for people to test the waters, and to express their creative side. However, I have noticed that many authors on here all make similar mistakes when writing. By "mistakes", I simply mean things that you wouldn't really see in a published book. These mistakes are what divides an author from clearly not being a professional, but can be easily fixed if only they were brought to light. In many cases, I don't think the author even knows what they are doing is a mistake, and can be very frustrating for someone else to read. When you are proof-reading your own work, you know what the plot is, and you know what is going on. Sometimes it can be hard to read through the eyes of someone else, which leads to poorly formed stories. In this post I will be going through common mistakes, pet peeves, and tips on how to make a more coherent novel. Cover picture by AmythePirate on Deviantart
