《more onigiri-meeyuh originals》 I'm dusty at writing. I've literally went and followed several people's Tumblrs that only ever retoast prompts or ideas, and as I've already got a theme going for my own Tumblr that doesn't involve shitty drafts, I've concluded that I'll just write them here and leave them to my own scrutiny. If prompts ever go missing, it's because I've reread them and decided they suck too much and I can't bear to look at them anymore. If anyone else reads this, please do me a favor and don't bother commenting or adding feedback of any kind. Save me the embarrassment of having to admit that my tiny unknown corner on this side of the Internet is actually visible to the public. Please indulge me. Let me have this one denial. ---------------- 《Disclaimers:》I do not own these prompts or exercises; references belong to the original writers. 《TW:》Language, sexual themes, mentions of violence or abuse, toxic relationships

I'm personally trying to get over it and create stable writing habits that I can do everyday. This book is for anyone who wants to help themselves get over writer's block without too much of a hassle. Disclaimer: I do not write professionally and if these tips and exercises don't work for you it's not my fault.

These are just some very short stories I wrote in 2021, inspired by several writing prompts (included at the start of each chapter). Each chapter will be completely different story, so if there's a story you don't like, just skip to the next one. Most of them are about 500-800 words long, but there are some shorter ones and some longer ones as well. Credit for most of the writing prompts goes to @writing.prompts.re and @writing.prompt.s on Instagram, you should definitely check out these pages because the prompts are great for when you want to write flash fiction or short stories but don't have any inspiration.

Some are dark, some are light, some are both, but all are 500 words or less. "A short story is a love affair, a novel is a marriage. A short story is a photograph; a novel is a film." ~Lorrie Moore These are my brief love affairs, my quickly-taken photographs, my breaks from novel works in progress or writing exercises that turned out to be rather fun! (If they are from a writing exercise, I will include the prompt.) Why the name Polished Messes? Because these stories are not perfected, they're just polished up a bit to be presentable before sending them into Wattpad world. Because sometimes as writers, we obsess WAY too much about being perfect. Happy reading and writing, I hope you enjoy them! ~*~ ©2020 by Sidney Brooks/Laura Bowers. All rights reserved.
