The only person that's always been there is her brother, Thomas Grey Sloan. Marcus Lopez Arguello watched his parents die in front of him, he's been homeless ever since. One day he comes into the hospital looking for medical assistance after getting shot in the stomach, who better to help than the "intern" who's around his age. You can thank Karev for that one.
