He’s the Guy

Christine Summer

He holds my hand when I feel cold,

And embraces me without being told,

He accepts my flaws like I was perfect,

And never fails to tell me with great effect.

He opens up the door for me,

And would push the chair for me,

He cares for me when I’m unwell,

And he wouldn’t care if I smell.

He tells me corny jokes just to make me smile,

And carries me around on his back for a mile,

He keeps me company when I’m lonely,

And every night would call me deliberately.

He likes singing to me on the way home,

And will not mind me calling him a gnome,

He would dance in the rain with me,

And act like we were our own party.

He smiles for no reason when we’re together,

And I’ll ask him if something the matter,

He would tell me that he remembers that time,

And we’d smile, our thoughts would rhyme.

He runs towards the park like a little kid,

And asks me to push him on the swing, to the wind,

He would laugh and would not be ashamed,

And scream at the top of his lungs, my name.

He teases me for little things,

And likes me to be his everything,

He would surprise me every day,

And he would make notes of words to say.

He would push the hair out of my face,

And he would say that I’m full of grace,

He would never say I am boring,

And would never treat me like a thing.

He would always treat me right,

And would always lets me win our fights,

He would cheer me up with make-up stories,

And he would smile with a picture of me he carries.

He thinks I’m funny when I’m mad,

And would cry for me when I’m sad,

He would never lets me feel alone,

And he would talk to me on the phone.

He would argue with my friends all the time,

And tells them he loves me more than all of them combined,

He would snatch my food when I’m not looking,

And tell me it was the ghost’s doing.

He tells me I’m crazy when I tease him,

And would chase me around like he couldn’t win,

He would tickle me on the ground nonstop,

And would scream and jump up.

He acts like a brat when I’m with another guy,

And would threaten me that he’s going to cry,

He would get jealous but won’t show it,

And act like I don’t know it.

He would make me jealous just to know,

And would act like it was just a show,

He would say sorry endlessly,

And I’ll forgive him instantly.

He trusts me with all of him,

And knows I will not cheat on him,

He would do the same to me,

And make me feel like it’s only me he can see.

He doesn’t think I’m weird,

And he would shave his beard,

He would be awkward sometimes,

And he would blush at times.

He impersonates cartoon characters,

And would sing theme songs unclear,

He had my picture as his screen saver,

And a picture of me sleeping as his wallpaper.

He would wait outside my door patiently,

And he would never make me feel guilty,

He would bring me my favorite flower,

And would write me a mushy love letter.

He would celebrate my birthday with me,

And on his calendar, put it as top priority,

He could make a dramatic monologue,

And would tell it to me like our love catalogue.

He would tell his friends about me,

And tell them like his proud to be,

He would call me his girlfriend,

And I would call him my boyfriend.

He would memorize my favorite song,

And would sing it with the lyrics wrong,

He would suddenly dance like a zombie,

And would make me laugh like it was from the movie.

He doesn’t call me honey or baby,

And says my name like it was melody,

He doesn’t get into a fight,

And because he would think it wasn’t right.

He would make me breakfast,

And act like he knew how to cook fast,

He would argue with me pointlessly,

And then would make me win effortlessly.

He would never make me cry,

And would make me feel we could fly,

He would tell me I’m pretty,

And without words he makes it so easy.

He would talk to my father for hours,

And would tell him stories of ours,

He wouldn’t be embarrassed telling him he loves me,

And tell him that someday we’ll marry.

He would talk to my mother adoringly,

And would call him ‘mom’ like we were family,

He would thank her for giving life to me,

And he would tell her like it was destiny.

He would dream of us in a big house,

And on Christmas, dress up as Santa Claus,

He would name our son Brody,

And I’d laugh ‘cause I find it funny.
