You weren't quite sure how much time had passed when you woke up only that it hurt like hell when you tried to sit up in the bed you were laid down on. Letting out a shaky breath you were astonished you even survived using hamon. It seemed as though fate was playing her cruel fate on you by allowing you to live after betraying the one you loved.
Feeling a slight movement at the side of your bed you froze. You hadn't even realized someone else was in the room with you. Gulping you weren't sure you even had the guts to look at who it was out of fear, but you managed to pull yourself together and were met with a mop of blond hair. Letting out a sigh of relief and let out a small smile.
"Speedwagon." It seemed as though he had been staying at your bedside for a while. He had fallen asleep in the chair he had sat in with his head resting against your bed. Since he was here you guessed what you did for Jonathan really had helped him. You doubt that Dio would have kept Speedwagon or even you at this point alive.
The door to your hospital room opened up revealing Jonathan. Your eyes watered at the sight of him. "(Y/N!)" Jonathan yelped out in excitement causing Speedwagon to wake up. "Whoa, what?" He looked around confusingly at Jonathan and then towards you.
"Oh my God (Y/N) thank goodness you're awake!" Speedwagon pulled you in for a hug and you held back a wince as you hugged him back. "Good to see you too Speedy."
Pulling away from his grasp you looked over to Jonathan and gave him a small smile. "Hey, big boy."
"(Y/N)....what you did well it helped sure but it was really stupid." Jonathan sheepishly thanked you. "Sorry guess there can't just be one idiot in our trio." You responded back with a laugh. Your side winced as you laughed making you clutch it in pain. Jonathan and Speedwagon shot you concerned looks.
"How did you even get turned?" Speedwagon questioned.
"I..I don't know somehow he had another mask."
"I thought there was only supposed to be one." He pondered deep in thought.
"I wish there had only been that one." The three of you nodded in agreement.
"Don't worry (Y/N) we'll figure something out." Jonathan gave you a reassuring smile. "And I'll protect you even if people come after you."
"Thanks, Jojo."
Erina popped her head into the room. "Sorry to interrupt, but it's time to change her bandages."
The two men moved to leave the room wanting to give you privacy. You saw Jonathan exchange a lovingly glance to Erina making her blush as they left.
"Sorry, it might hurt a bit with applying the medicine to your wounds."
The wounds you had seemed to be like burn marks. You guessed it was due to the fact that hamon came from the sun's energy so it had caused both inside and outside of your skin to burn. Luckily the outside wasn't so bad and only left a couple of patchy burn marks on your skin. Though you guessed as soon as your vampire powers would kick back in that your skin would look as good as new again.
"Why did you do that?" Erina suddenly questioned kicking you out of your daze.
"Do what?"
"Use hamon to help Jonathan. It must have not been an easy decision especially because of how you and Dio were..."
"Jonathan...he was always there for me when I was a kid. He'd listen to me vent about my mother, console me when I felt lonely, and always brought sunshine into my life. I'm sure you know how he has that kind of effect on people." Erina nodded her head. "I just...even though I loved Dio I was in despair over the thought of losing Jojo. I don't think I would have ever been able to forgive myself for not helping him."
"But you can forgive yourself for not helping Dio?" You pondered on the question for a bit.
"I guess we'll see." You shrugged your shoulders and looked out the window as Erina began working on applying ointment and redressing your bandages.
It looked as though the sun was just about to rise up. "I'll make sure to close the curtains before the rays hit." You hummed thanks in response.
You couldn't help but feel a bit lost and out of the place. Everything seemed surreal at the moment. You kept losing yourself in your thoughts; rethinking every moment of the past couple of years you had spent with both Jonathan and Dio. You wondered if there was anything more you should have done to prevent what had occurred. "Is he...?"
"Dead? We think so...we're going to go somewhere else with his body to get people to look at it after Jojo and I's....oh that's right you don't know about even that it's been a couple of months since you've been out.!" Erina gasped at her last statement causing you to look back at her in confusion.
She brought her hand in your eye view and you saw the ring on her left ring finger. You smiled widely. "No way! Damn Jojo works fast."
The two of you laughed. You were genuinely really happy that the two would be getting married. You were glad that at least one couple could get a happy ending.
"The wedding is going to be in a couple of days. I'm sure Jojo feels the same way, but I'm glad you'll be awake for it!" You spent the remainder of sunrise talking to Erina about the details of the wedding and could feel your spirits getting lifted just by a bit.
Their wedding of course had been gorgeous and very romantic. You stood beside Speedwagon on Jonathan's side during the ceremony and comforted him as he cried. You weren't sure if he was crying over how happy he was for Jonathan or if it was because of something else. You had the feeling there was more to how Speedwagon really felt about Jonathan than he had ever told anyone. You also couldn't help but feel as though it was supposed to be your wedding. That maybe if you hadn't done what you did it would be you and Dio up there exchanging vows.
Speedwagon had stuck close by your side the whole time once he sensed that you been feeling off at the wedding. You felt glad that his presence was near you but it still left you with an uneasy feeling.
Now you stood beside Speedwagon once again as you wished a happy journey to the two for their honeymoon from the pier. You were clothed not allowing for a single ray to hit your skin and Speedwagon held an umbrella over you to protect you as well.
You waved the two off as the ship was leaving. Speedwagon let out a sigh. "I hope the two of them will forever be happy."
"I'm sure they will, they're pretty much made for one another." Speedwagon nodded his head in agreement.
"Hey, Speedy..."
"What is it miss (Y/N)?"
"I was wondering if I could maybe go with you to America." Speedwagon widened his eyes. "Why would you want to?"
"Well, you're going over there to make enough money to support Jojo and investigate more of these strange occurrences right?"
"Yes, I am." Speedwagon's cheeks tinted a light red.
"Well considering I'm now a strange occurrence I feel like I should go with you. I want to help Jojo out whatever way I can as well." You paused debating whether or not you should tell him more. "Plus I...I want you to find a way to turn me back."
"Back? Like to a human?"
"Yeah, I...I don't want to live forever. I feel like it'd be a waste. I wouldn't be able to truly feel alive without the thought of growing old."
Speedwagon turned to face you and grabbed your hands. "I promise you we will try our best to find a solution as quickly as we can."
You couldn't help but smile at his eagerness. "Thank you, Speedy."
"Also watch out how you're holding the umbrella." Your comment caused Speedwagon to look up and see that he had almost allowed for the sun to touch you when he took your hands. He quickly readjusted it and apologized swiftly for it.
America was new territory for the world and you couldn't help but think maybe it would make you feel free from the shackles that Dio had left you in. That maybe there was more to learn about the masks and vampires in the New World. And it felt like a bonus that you would continue to have Speedwagon by your side helping you through everything. It felt like a new life was waiting for you in America. Where Jonathan, Erina, Speedwagon, and you could all be happy.
Though like always the fates had different plans. There was no way any of you guys could have realized Dio could still hold so much power over all of you. There was no way of knowing that you could possibly run into him in a different century. There was no way of knowing that you would have to choose between the Joestar bloodline and him again.
Though that was all years away and for now it was the end of your story.
