I've been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
And every melody is timeless
Life was stringing me along
Then you came and you cut me loose
Was solo singing on my own
Now I can't find the key without you

K I A R A

I'VE RUN OUT of words.

Because he's here at my doorstep with his face—so heartbreakingly beautiful—scrunched up as he waits for me to say something.

But I don't. I can't.

"I should've said this the day I found you." He goes on."But I'm not good with words. Never have been. I screw up the second I open my mouth."

I tug at his wrist and lead him into my room. Feel the heat emanate from him as the door shuts behind us.

"I'm sorry." He says again, nervous by the growing silence between us. "For what I did, and even more for what I didn't do. I was too much of a coward to stand up for you when you needed me the most."

"Is that all?"

I watch the way he bites his lip. Is he afraid? Nervous?  Good, he should be. "If say more I'll ruin it again, somehow." He replies.

"Try." I say. "I've got time."

My palm rests on his chest. I hear his heart hammering underneath the thin fabric of his shirt. Tentatively, he lifts his hand and rests it against my cheek, and I find myself leaning into his warmth, seeking more.

With my free hand, I interlock our fingers.

"This–this," His gaze shifts as he stares at the way his calloused hand moulds perfectly with mine. A blend of destruction and healing. Of rage and calm. One incomplete without the other. "I want you to know it's not just the bond. This simply strengthens what was already present. This feeling, I—Kiara, the way I feel about you, it started a long time ago."

From childhood friends,

To crushes,

To comrades,

And soulmates—tied by a bond as ancient as time.

"Somehow, deep down I had known without knowing I belonged to you and you alone. I'm in love with you, Kiara. Then, now, forever. But if–if," He rasps, his grey eyes drawn to my mouth. "If you don't feel the same way, I completely understand. I deserve—"

The rest of the words are lost when I close the gap between us.

I kiss him—with all I have—fiercely, feverishly as I pour all those unsaid words into that one gesture. That one kiss. And it takes him by complete surprise.

I hear the sharp intake of breath, the stutter that dies in his throat before his hands wind around the nape of my neck. Trail up and knot in my hair as he begins to kiss me back.

Tears roll down his cheeks when I pull away.

"So I take it, you..."

I lean in and press my lips on the tears. First on one, then the other. "Yes." I answer him.

I forgive you. Already did, a long time ago.

The sound that escapes him—relief and joy, it sends a thrill right up my spine.

I feel the warmth and hardness of him against me. He groans against my mouth when I slide my hands over his chest. That sound—that's it.

Like an elastic let loose, everything comes undone.

Suddenly everything shifts between us. The tenderness turns into urgency. Into primal need. Into a blur of deeper kisses and whispered promises.

He pins me between him, one hand resting on my hip, the other pressed against the wall, as our breaths grow hotter and heavier. We pull back almost at the same time, just in time to see his pupils dilate until they're wholly black. His lips swollen and pink.

Our foreheads touch. Noses brush.

Our first kiss had been a mistake.

Our second had been impulsive.

But our third, gods, our third... this is the one I'd been waiting for all along.

And in that moment, I can read his thoughts, without him uttering a word.

May I? His eyes speak volumes.

I nod once.

His hand slides under the hem of my shirt. First the top button, then the second—he pops them open with ease. His own shirt comes off next and joins the heap at the foot of the bed.

And even in the ferocity and roughness of the moment, he's painstakingly gentle as he scoops me up and lays me on the bed.

My hands roam the expanse of chest, learning every contour and ridge. Noticing the sharp intake of breath he took, the way the muscles of his torso contract when the friction between us becomes unbearable. Relishing the way he whimpers when I pull away. To know I alone have this effect on him, that I alone—

He knows what I'm thinking because the next second a grin tugs at the edges of his mouth as he swoops down to run his tongue over the sensitive spot under my ear.

Every thought flies right of of the window. Because everything I wished is right here, right now.

He chuckles, as if reading my mind. "Careful what you wish for, sweetheart. It just might come true."

It better. I gather fistfuls of the silken bedsheets and moan. My back arches into him wanting more. Needing more. So much more.

But Aden is slow like the lazy mornings of winter. Like the long awaited rain after summer.

He presses a chaste kiss on my top of my head.

Then another, down the length of my nose to the tip. From my cheekbones to the fluttering pulse under my jaw. This close, I can smell his aftershave—the spiced and saged undertones along with the musk of arousal that's entirely him.

My eyes shut and lips part. From the curve of my neck, to the dip in between my collarbones, down to the exposed skin between my unbuttoned shirt, lower and lower until—my stomach clenches as he takes his own sweet time teasing me to the brink of insanity.

I tug at his hair again, demanding his attention. He looks at me through his lashes, grey eyes wild as a storm.

This teasing and taunting... I can see in his gaze and in the smirk that dances across his face that he's enjoying it.

Not fair. I'm going to have to change that.

Before he can comprehend, in one swift move, I roll him over. One hand on his wrist, the other on the pillow. I savour the shock on his face as he tenses first, then relaxes completely.

Hovering above him, my canines begin to elongate. I pull back a fraction of an inch, just enough for me to see the emotion in his eyes clearly. "Are you okay with this?"

"Okay?" He repeats, his voice so deep, it's a feral growl. "Kiara, I have waited and wanted this for years."

"Then lets make it worth the wait."

I trail a finger over this collarbone, knowing the way his heated gaze dips down, following the movement. I take in the sight of him: black locks messy over his forehead, cheeks flushed red and jaw hard as he restrains the urge to take control. To push me down and mark me, like he so clearly wants to. Letting me have my fun first, instead.

Another growl escapes his throat. "Kiara, goddess...please..."

My canines sink into his skin. With a grunt, his eyes squeeze shut. His arms wrap around my waist, holding onto me like his very life depends on it.

I feel it in the depths of our souls. That bond between us that was always there—feel as it grows taut as it pulls us towards each other. Grow so impossibly strong, nothing in this world could sever it.

He groans. Moans. Swears.

When I finally pull back, his skin is the warmest shade of red. Breath harsh and heavy. I pepper tender kisses over the raw mark until the pain subsides. Aware of every movement between us, aware of how his hooded eyes glaze over as he watches me, I slide my finger under his chin and tilt his face towards mine.

"I'm sorry I hurt you." I murmur.

"You didn't." His hands slide up my curve of my spine towards my shoulders. Gaze lust-inked and sultry, he spins me around and pushes me down on the bed. "Besides, you've teased me long enough."

My hair fans against the pillow as I peer up at him through my lashes. My brows quirk up in challenge. "Have I?"

His smirk turns sly, eyes bright with wicked delight. "My turn, sweetheart."

I should certainly hope so. We've only just begun.

Later, as we lay together, cocooned in the soft silk sheets, still and spent, my mark remains on his skin and his on mine—a confirmation of what exists between us since the beginning.

I bury my face into the crook of his neck while his chin brushes the top of my head.

He twirls a lock of my hair around his fingers. "I love you." He says so quietly, I almost miss it.

A part of me wishes I could hold onto this moment forever. Stop time in this frame and capture it. Memorise it. Because I know with certainty, that even a hundred years from now, when I'm old and my mind has forgotten, my heart will remember this until the end.

Next update: coming Monday or next Thursday. But please be patient. Being a medic during the pandemic, I have a full time job that takes priority.
