My coach already had me enroll in gymnastics. I'm killing it at floor and vault. I'm ok at beam, but bars man. They suck. I've also grown closer to Cam since that night. Hes really not a bad guy once you get to know him.
"Hey Cam," I said, me and him meet at slauson cafe after our practice, and before i go to my gymnastics class.
"Ready for your class?" He asked, handing me an iced coffee.
"No. We are working at mainly bars," I grumbled.
"How can you lift girls who weigh a hundred pounds, but cant flip on a bar?" He asked me.
"I just cant," I laughed.
Me and him talked until I had to go to practice.
"See ya Cam," I said standing up.
"I'll walk you out, I know people been at you since Shawn died," he said.
Everyone gave me looks as I walked out to Shawn's car.
"See ya tomorrow," he said and walked back into slauson.
I went to my class and met up with Spencer afterwards in Crenshaw.
"Kia!" I scream and hug her.
"Pheonix!" She screamed back.
"Yo chill. You sound white," spencer said covering his ears.
Then flip walked up.
"What do you youngbloods want?" Flip asked us, what did we want?
"We want to get a ban from gang members walking through the parks," Spencer said.
Oh! Good idea!
"Absolutely not. That would include me and my OG bloods. Not to mention little Scott here," he said motioning to me.
"I'm not in a gang, Flip," I said.
"It wouldn't matter. Your brother made you the poster girl for the police when he joined," he said and I looked down.
Its true.
"Its a small price to pay when kids like dillion can run around with his friends," I said after a moment.
"Really youngblood?" Flip snapped.
"Some of my best memories with shawn are here," I told him.
"I'm sorry, but I cant. You havent thought it through," he said and walked away.
"I didnt think about the effects on you," Spence said.
"I vote we still try," I told him.
"What if we did a park cleanup?" Kia suggest.
"Get people to sign while they clean up essence park," I agreed.
"That could work. I can get the guys from the team to help," Spence said.
"I got Cam and Chris," I told him.
"Cam?" Spencer asked.
"Yeah we cool," i said calmly.
"We will talk about this later," he snapped.
Me and kia put up posters while Leila and spence put up others.
"So cam?" Kia asked with a smirk.
"I mean hes cool," I said stapling up a poster.
"That's it. Cool?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said.
When we finished up we went back to Spencer's. I excused myself to the bathroom. I grabbed a blade out of my phone case and turned on the water.
Ever since my brother died I've been cutting my wrist. It's the only pain I feel like I cant control.
I made a few cuts and washed then under the cool water. The water stung as it ran over my cuts. I grabbed a few bandaids I keep in my case and cover the cuts. I rolled down my sleeves and walk out.
"Are cam and Chris coming?" Leila asked me.
"Yeah. Speaking of which. I'm going to meet cam at slauson. I'll see ya at the clean up," I said and walked to Slauson.
"Hows your boy feelin about me coming to the clean up?" Cam asked.
"How you think?" I asked drinking the coffee cam had ordered,"the boys head explodes with change."
"Then I really wonder what he will feel about this?" Cam asked.
"About what?" As soon as I asked I felt his lips on mine.
My eyes widened in shock. I didnt know cam liked me like this! He felt that I didnt kiss back and pulled away.
"I'm sorry," he said,"I though you was feelin me."
I finally processed what happened and put my arms around his neck.
"I am feelin you," I said and pressed my lips on his.
He put his arms around me drawing me closer to him. After a little bit we pulled back. I looked at him and smiled.
"Spence is gonna kill you," I said with a huge smile.
"Please. I'd like to see him try," he said grabbing my hand.
"To the park?" I asked.
"To the park," he said.
We walked in hand in hand and Spencer stormed up to us.
"Breathe," I told him.
He grabbed my wrist and pulled our hands apart.
"Yo dawg, you can't control her," cam said smirking.
"You feelin him?" Spencer asked me.
"Yeah," I said.
"I don like him," he said to me.
"Yeah, well I dont like Leila. We we're even," I retorted.
He didn't say anything, just glared and walked away. Me and cam started to pick up all the trash when Olivia came up to me.
"Are you together?" She asked me and cam.
"Yeah. We are," he said with smirk.
"We are talking tonight," liv said and walked away.
"is anyone else gonna show?" Spence asked me and kia.
"If not we clean up the park. It's okay Spence," I said giving him a sidehug.
About that time a whole group of people came in making Spencer smile. Spencer started to try to get people to sign when flip came in.
"Flip, yo ass isnt welcome here," I said walking up to him.
"I cant believe yo still for this youngblood," he told me.
"I am," I almost growled.
"Well, if you have a right to convince to them to sign, I have a right to talk talk to my neighbors on why they shouldn't. At least while I still can," he said leaving me and Spencer speechless.
Me and Spencer kept trying to convince people, but everyone is to scared of the gangs.
Then tyrone and his crew came in.
"Shit," I mumbled to spencer.
He looked over and saw him walk in. Flip and tyrone met face to face.
"This isnt ending well," I said as they started to fight.
Then a gun was pulled.
"I've seen a million guns, if you gonna show it better be able to use it," flip said.
"Hey!" Spence yelled running between them.
"Put it down Ty. There are kids here. Mayas age," I growled also getting between them.
"You dont have a say in this, Pheonix Scott," he said.
"Dont be stupid! We got five dead bodies this past month" Spencer yelled.
"Five people who didnt need to die!" I yelled backing spence up.
"Two in the past couple weeks alone," he said looking at me.
"Isnt that enough. Arent you tired of it?" I asked them.
"We taking out our pain on eachother man," Spence continues.
"We cant keep it up. Ty we can't keep it up. Flip, we cant keep it up!" I yelled.
"The shooting, beefing. It dont faze us anymore," spencer begged.
"This isnt normal!" I screamed,"it isnt normal to have to tell two year olds their dads been shot. It isnt normal to not feel safe walking through a public park! It isnt normal to have to constantly worry if someone you love is dead! This isnt normal!" I yell in anger.
People were grabbing their kids and leaving.
"I'm sorry," flip said and all his boys pulled gun, while Tyrone pulled theirs.
"If I die it's your fault," I said to spencer.
"Thats your choice of last words," he said as we started to go between them.
"Spencer, Phoenix, let's go," grace said trying to grab us.
"No. I have to do this," spencer said.
"Me too," I said.
"We got you," chris said as him and cam walked with us as we went between them.
"I'll be seeing you," ty said to Spencer then turned to me,"watch ya back Scott."
"Let's go!" Ty yelled and they left the park.
Grace immediately took us back to her house. Me and spence were preparing for the yelling as we grabbed each others hands.
"You two scared me to death today!" Grace yelled.
"Moms-"
"Momma Grace-"
"I'm not done! I have also never been more proud," she said hugging us.
"You two started a conversation that we have been needing to start. Pheonix, shawn would have been so proud of you," she said making eyes water.
"Just dont scare me like that again," she said.
After that I decided to head home. I stopped by slauson before I left. I figured Cam would be there.
"Your dad drinking again?" I asked cam.
"Yeah. It's getting harder to explain how cuts and bruises keep appearin," he said,"so I just stay here. What do you think Ty will do to you?"
"I don't know. I know if he could get me itll be bad," I said honestly.
"Then let's hope he doesnt. I'll walk you to the car," he said to me.
I drove to the bakers and walked in. I saw billy waiting on the stairs.
"How are you?" He asked me.
"Shaken up. Still in shock we did that, but fine," I said honestly.
"Makes sense. Livs waiting for you," he said.
"Thank you coach, for letting us stay," I said to him.
He just nodded and I walked upstairs to Livs room.
"When did you and cam happen? " she asked.
"Today we've been talking alot since Shawn's funeral," I told her.
We continued to talk until she fell asleep. Once she was out I got out my phone.

I of course got no response. I went to my room and worked on some of my flexiblity. When I heard my phone vibrate I was confused. It was one in the morning.
