LORELEI SAT IN THE SNOW, WRAPPED IN A LARGE BLANKET WITH LEE, WATCHING FRED AND GEORGE IN AMUSEMENT AS THEY THREW SNOWBALLS AROUND THE COURTYARD. It became a game to them as they tried to throw their snowball the highest, some hitting the Gryffindor Tower. Lee scooted to stand up excitedly, wanting to join. Lorelei frowned as she felt the cold air prickle her itchy skin when Lee left her.
Lorelei took the extra blanket from Lee and wrapped it completely around herself. Smiling for the first peaceful moment she felt in months, she took in the happy faces of students around her. Snow fell, creating a white blanket on the Hogwarts grounds. Lorelei was not ready to leave the beauty of the castle, but she was more than ready to leave the toad inhabiting it at the moment. Of all years for the toad to come in their lives, it was their last. This was supposed to be the best one, but Lorelei could hardly enjoy moments like this with her skin itching and the twitches of pain she felt at times when the potion wore off.
She could hear yelling, so she looked up at Gryffindor Towers to see Ron poking his head out. "Oi! I am a prefect and if one more snowball hits this window-- OUCH!" Fred and George sent more snowballs at him making her laugh at the youngest male Weasley's bad luck.
She noticed George smirking at her from afar, shooting a wink at her to make the mermaid blush. This was a distraction, for she wasn't ready for the large snowball to hit the other side of her face.
She turned to see Fred smirking mischievously toward her with his wand raised.
Standing up, leaving the comfort of her blanket, she grabbed her own wand. Before any of the boys were ready, she sent an army of snowballs to each of them. She heard their protests, but she didn't stop until she had covered the three boys in snow, enough so that only their heads poked out.
"You foul git," Fred said with an angry glint in his eyes before smirking again. Pulling out his own wand from the mountain of snow, he sent all the snow back to Lorelei. The mermaid was too quick, and she sent it to another part of the grounds.
Lorelei turned to see the snow landing on the frozen lake. Her smile dropped as did her shoulders when she looked at the lake. She felt the itch on her skin grow, making her claw a bit at her arm. Fred, George, and Lee exchanged looks when they saw the frown on her face.
Lee growled out, "Fuck Umbridge, Lor. You'll die if you let this go on!"
Lorelei smiled weakly at the three boys who neared her. She felt her strength dwindling, but she was holding on the glimmer of hope that was her mother and the Weasley's pond for the Christmas holidays. George frowned further at Lee's words because he knew the pink toad didn't care whether or not Lorelei lived.
"We'll go tonight," George stated firmly. "We'll take Harry's cloak and the map for tonight. I can't watch this anymore--"
"No," Lorelei said with a shake of her head making all three boys let their jaw drop at the word. "If I all of a sudden have my strength back, she'll get suspicious. She'll know you three were involved somehow, and I just want to wait until I'm home--"
Lorelei felt her vision spin a bit. Grabbing her head to steady herself, she sighed loudly.
"How're you doing it? In third-year, you collapsed in exhaustion from not being in the water," Fred recalled with his frown deepening.
Lorelei laughed without humor as they continued to stare at the lake. "Because I had no control, yet? Because I knew I could go but I forced myself to hold off in fear of judgement? Now, I know I can't go and I have to hold off for as long as possible. Come on, I can't stand here and stare at it."
Fred smiled and nudged Lee. "Lee and I are going to go throw some dung bombs at Umbridge's door. You and George go snog or something."
George whacked his brother, who sniggered and ran with Lee back to the castle. He glanced at Lorelei with a smirk on his lips before grabbing her hand and kissing the back of it. "Let's take a walk, my dear," he said with an overdramatic accent and fake bow.
"Certainly," she replied in a similar fake accent, allowing him to drag her along with a grin on his face.
The two walked around the corridors, being split up by magic when they, unfortunately, came across Umbridge. Once they went around a corner, they linked hands again. They walked around, with a stop at the kitchens, until they reached the Gryffindor Common Room again. Taking their acquired pastries to George's dorm, Lorelei was able to peel off some layers she wore to protect herself from the cold.
Once in a singlet and her jeans, she sat on George's bed and dived into one of the pastries. He stared at her for a while before grinning mischievously. Lorelei glanced at him nervously and said, "What? Is this one of your products? I'll kill you--"
"You're beautiful," he said with a simple shrug.
"Flattery will get you nowhere, Weasley," she said after swallowing the rest of the pastry. George put the rest on his bedside table before laying down. He gestured for Lorelei to lay down with him. "You think you're slick or something?"
"I'm not doing anything!" he exclaimed with the same shit-eating grin when she straddled his waist. She sat her elbows on his chest and leaned her head on her hands to stare at him accusingly. "You look so lovely."
Lorelei let her arms fall as she rested her forehead against his chest laughing at his antics. She looked up at him with a smirk. "If you wanted to snog, you don't have to butter me up first with compliments."
"Really? Sounds great," he said quickly before capturing her lips with his own.
It didn't start out slow or sensual. He quickly took control, allowing his hands to roam down her back to her bottom where he grasped it tightly. Their lips were creating firey friction compared to their cold bodies from the outside weather. George brought one of his hands up to hold the side of her face as he tugged on her bottom lip erupting a moan from both of them.
Lorelei felt George pull her body impossibly close, and she could feel how happy he was to be with her at that moment. Moving from his lips, she kissed the side of his mouth, his cheek, and began a trail down his neck. He gripped her tighter as he pushed his hips up to meet hers. Kissing back up to his left ear, she tugged on his lobe a bit. She laughed, the warm air from her mouth hit his ear, shocking him. She whispered, "I love you."
George quickly flipped the pair, locking her arms above her head with one hand while the other caressed the right side of her face. His eyes held nothing but love as Lorelei stared into his chocolate orbs. She locked her legs around his waist, bringing his body down to hers. He laughed at her excitement before stealing a swift kiss to her cheek, whispering back that he loved her as well.
When George pulled off his shirt, Lorelei happily followed. He explored the skin he could see now, placing kisses all the way down her chest and stomach. When he reached the waistband of her jeans, he glanced at her with a new feeling exploding in his eyes. Lorelei nodded, and for the first time, she focused on the way George made her feel, physically and mentally. Her skin didn't prickle or itch as George seemed to worship it.
They were irrevocably in love.
