The moon shined down on the Uchiha compound, lighting up even the darkest corners. It would've been a beautiful night if her father hadn't called her in. Little did she know- did he know, that this would be the last night they'd spend together.

"What?"

He let out a long breath.

"You can't become a ninja. It's final."

She blinked.

"No. You're lying." he watched as her foot stepped back. "You're lying!"

He tried walking up to her and placing his hand on her shoulder, but she backed away even more.

"Get away from me!"

The fear in her eyes - it was real.

"It's not-" he hesitated on what to say. "It's not your fault. It's mine."

"What do you mean? Why can't I become a ninja?!"

"I can't tell you-"

"NO! TELL ME-" tears piled up under her eyes. "TELL ME WHY- WHY I CAN'T BECOME-"

"BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT READY!"

She gasped. The tension in the room had fallen a bit, but it was replaced with a new feeling. A feeling Fugaku knew all too well. That spirit's lust for blood.

"I'm not ready? I've been training- I- I've mastered some of the clans best jutsu's! What do you mean I'm not ready?" the pain in her voice truly pained him, but it was for the best.

"Look- I've arranged a marriage with a boy, from the Hyuga clan-"

"MARRIAGE?!"

Her fist clenched. Fugaku could feel the aura around her turn into something evil.

"I CAN'T GET MARRIED! I'M NOT GOING TO BECOME A STUPID HOUSEWIVE- AND- AND BECOME TIED DOWN TO SOMETHING I DIDN'T CHOOSE!"

"Keiko, it's the only way-"

"NO, IT'S NOT! I WILL BECOME A-"

There it was. The words that just started a whole new story.

"YOU WILL NOT BECOME A NINJA, KEIKO UCHIHA. NEVER."

The moons glow seemed to shift from the compound - and before he knew it, his daughter looked up at him in a way that made him wish he hadn't said that. A pang of guilt hit him, and before he knew it, she was out the door.

She ran past her brother who had just gotten out of his room, tears streaming down her cheeks. He didn't need to see them to know something was wrong - especially when Fugaku ran out of the room too, sweat dripping from his forehead. Sasuke had never seen his father like this. The bigger man began to look around, looking for what seemed to be his sibling.

"Where did Keiko go?"

. . .

The black haired girl sat with her knees hugged close to her chest, sniffling silently.

YOU WILL NOT BECOME A NINJA, KEIKO UCHIHA. NEVER.

Those words. They were just words, yet, they hurt more than any kunai thrown at her. Cheeks wet, she looked up. It was a full moon tonight. She had always loved looking up at the big rock, she found it so pretty. She toyed with the end of her sleeves, her sniffling getting a bit smaller. Whenever she began to feel numb and not know what to feel, she'd do this. It was an unhealthy habit - for it had ruined multiple of her past long-sleeves in the past. Her mother had spent half of her day fixing them. That reminded her- Where was her mother? Keiko dug her face into her arms. She wanted to go run back into the embrace of the female, her warmth, her voice- her smile.

Another tear ran down her face as she wiped it away.

"There you are. You're a bit late. I'm guessing you just received the news?"

She jumped up at the sudden voice, and instinctively went to reach for her kunai. It took her a moment to realize that she had left it back at the compound before going out into the garden.

"Reflexes. Good." the man stepped forward, but Keiko didn't recognize him.

He wore a mask - a twirled one. There was a little hole on the side where you could see one of his eyes, but it was dark. Looking around for a weapon - she picked up a pebble. Though she didn't know what good it would do against him. His chakra signature was... different.

"Who- W-Who are you?" she asked, gripping the rock tighter.

Ignoring the question, he stepped forward a bit, and Keiko stepped back. She hadn't noticed that she was just at the edge of a cliff. "You've awakened your sharingan? Impressive. I'm assuming this is recently?"

"Sharingan..?"

She looked down at the puddle underneath her, and noticed her eyes were indeed, crimson. A small smile grew on her face. Maybe now...

The words rang in her mind again.

NEVER.

She grit her teeth - and tried to focus on the man in front of her.

"W-What do you want?" she said, gathering chakra into the pebble.

He stepped forward, and with that she stepped back once again.

"Aren't you- Curious? Why your so-called father of yours are holding back your dream?" he spoke in this comforting - yet dangerous tone.

She didn't like it. Not one bit. But at the time she was still a child, she was still naive.

Gulping, her eyes followed him as he paced back and forth slowly. "How do you know about that?"

"Oh well- You know," he did a hand gesture, "I do my research."

She sunk down. Did everyone back at the compound know? She'd never be excepted back if they knew the daughter of Fugaku Uchiha had talked back to he himself.

He stood with his fists on his hips for a moment, before sighing. "Are you going to stand there and sulk, or do you want to know why? If not, I'll be on my way."

Keiko snapped out of her gaze, and looked back up at him. "Y-Yes." she responded, almost immediately. "I'd like to know."

He seemed to smirk from under his mask. "Great!"

"Have you ever felt like.. Someone else is living in your body? Like- You don't choose some of your actions? Like.. Bloodlust?"

Her head suddenly started to hurt- and the masked man stepped forward as she shut her eyes closed. Thinking back, she remembered that time Itachi took her hunting. They were walking in the woods when she saw a deer. She just had a sudden urge to just kill it - without even thinking. She didn't remember anything else that day. Keiko shook her head slowly, and he continued on.

"When you were born, something- A spirit, was sealed inside of you. An evil one. One that belonged to the Uchiha Clan itself. On the day of your birth - February 24th, the demon rose, and broke free from it's prison. Your father had no choice but to seal it in you, for Uchiha newborns were the only ones capable enough to hold a spirit with that much chakra. But he made a mistake. A terrible mistake. See, he didn't think you'd end up with its traits - but you did. And you can't control those traits.

Spirit. Uchiha newborns. Traits.

It was all a lot to take in for a young girl who barely learned how to spell 'magnificent'.

"But- But I could control it! If I just have a little time-"

"Your father didn't think so. " he put his arms behind his back. "He thought you would become too powerful, uncontrollable. A threat the the Hidden Leaf Village."

That was way more to take in. A threat to the Hidden Leaf? Keiko would never harm the village. She wanted to become a ninja to protect it. Anger boiled in her again, did her father seriously not trust her enough to protect the village?

"Face it. You are a monster. Your father thinks so. Your mother thinks so. Your brothers think so-"

"Stop it.."

She fell down to her knees, losing focus in the world around her. A dark purple chakra began to levitate around her, and she could feel herself losing control over her body. It was like everything was happening so quickly. Keiko looked down at her hands, and it seemed like they were fading away slowly. Turning into dust.

"Just a monster."

When she looked back up, the masked man was gone.

"Where are you? What's happening to me?"

She was scared. She didn't want to die. At least, not until she had seen the world. Grew old.

"Keiko?"

A boy with an ANBU mask came out of the trees, and she had known his voice all too well. Itachi Uchiha.

He looked around for a bit, before his eyes landed on Keiko. "There you are. Father is looking-"

But the moment he stepped forward, she scooted backwards. She fought to keep consciousness, though she knew she wouldn't be able to do it for any longer.

"No. Get away from m-me."

Keiko shrunk more, and Itachi took off his mask. He gave her the most heart-warming smile.

"Kei.."

She looked at him, pain in her eyes. He was a little taken aback when he saw the sharingan pattern - but learned to control his questions.

"Let's go back home, I'll go with you."

And she would've said yes. Except- fate had different plans.

"Itachi.. I'm scared."

But before he could reach her - she fell back. She closed her eyes and was consumed by darkness, falling far too fast for her brother to grab onto her.

And ever since that day, the existence of Keiko Uchiha was not known, nor talked about. The Uchiha had chosen to keep it a secret that the youngest had died, and anyone who knew her had to keep their mouth shut. Keiko Uchiha was not to be known.
