The life of a pen
Is no mystery.
Manufactured in a factory
Then sold. The rest is history.
We think we know the life of a pen.
How it goes from shop to hand.
But do we know what happens next
When on paper the pen does land?
Maybe we don't know the life of a pen.
How from mind, to hand, to paper,
Words or drawings are formed.
Art is created, a pens greatest teacher.
Clearly we don't know the life of a pen.
Where it travels from start to end.
Moving from hand to hand, paper to paper,
Until the ink is gone, and so is our closest friend.
Only a pen knows the life of a pen.
What words it writes and art it creates,
Who passes it to who, who throws it away.
The pen is one thing lots don't appreciate.
You'll never know the life of a pen.
Unless you use it until there is no more.
From start to end the ink will pour.
You know the life of that pen as that life is yours.
