I sit in front of my mirror as I listen to random music come on, currently playing Can't You See Me - TXT. I smile as I sing the song and finish up with my one step makeup routine. I get up and look at my outfit with my hair and makeup.
"Eh it's not gonna look any better" I shrug grab my purse and other things I need for work and head out the door, locking it behind me.
I walk across the busy streets of Vancouver as I near my work.
I walk in and greet my coworkers and head to my station to work. I work at a makeup store mainly because the pay is outstanding! And it's a job where I just greet customers and the rare occasion I work register.
"Good morning" I smile as more people come in and I get quite a few nods and smiles back
"Y/n how long are you scheduled today?" My friend Baylea asks as she sneaks behind me grabbing bags
I wave at the incoming customers then whisper behind me "9-10" I say and move to the registers and prepare for the most boring part of the job
She sets up besides me and smiles "great"
I look at her confused "why?" I ask becoming suspicious
"Is it really that weird for me to ask my coworker how long she's working?" She asks innocent smiley plastered
"Yes" I say looking at her
"Well-" She gets cut off as a customer walks up to her ready to purchase the skin care in her hand
I look over and see a few more guests ready so I put on my friendly smile and start to do my job.
The day was pretty normal, we had our normal amount of customers and it was smooth and not to busy. I go to the break room to gather my belongings and close up my stations.
I pass by a few coworkers already leaving and I notice I'm the last one in the break room. I sigh but quickly go to my locker
I grab my bag and notice a small box in my locker that I know for a fact wasn't in there...
I grab it and look at it. It was a jewelry box? No it was the size of one.
I smile when I look at it. It reminds me of my past relationship, he was such a great boyfriend but we just didn't click especially since he lived so far away. He would visit when he could but I just felt like he never cared for me the way I cared for him.
Baylea walks into the break room smiling at me "hey"
I look up at her and smile "hi"
"Are you walking home?" She asks
I nod "yeah"
"Mind if I walk with you?" She asks
I shake my head no "I don't mind at all"
She smiles "okay well lemme just grab my stuff" she quickly runs to her locker and I look back down at the box curious to who put in in my locker...
Maybe it's an old gift mark gave me and I never saw it? No he always texted me when he dropped off something. I'm reading to much into this
"What's that?" Baylea asks looking at the box in my hand
Quickly I get out of my daze and put the box in my purse and smile "not sure" I let out a small laugh "let's head out"
She nods and we both make our way out of the store saying our goodbyes to our manager who was grabbing Keys and turning lights off.
We make our way down the dark street together talking about random topics. Till she smiles at me "so what's in the box?" She asks catching me off guard
"Oh I don't know" I smile "I haven't opened it"
She nods "Hmm it reminds me of that guy that would drop off boxes for you all the time or he'd send them" she laughs "what happened to him he hasn't visited in forever" she asks
I sigh "we broke up awhile ago"
She looks at me "I'm so sorry"
I shakes my head no "don't be haha it was a good thing I swear I'm fine" i half smile
"I see, well this is my stop see you soon" she waves and heads to her house
"We live pretty close" I chuckle to myself
Once she gets inside her house I continue walking. I pull out the box and walk to the bench in front of my home. I take a seat and take a deep breathe before opening the box.
I slowly open the box and feel my face heat up and tears threatening to spill. Inside was a small dried out flower petal. Under it was a letter.
"Mark" I breathe out before opening the letter I close my eyes and exhale.
I open my eyes and look at the paper. I slowly open it
"Dear Y/n,"
