Around a week after Crystal's birthday, Lunar's parents had bid farewell to their dark type son, albeit with a lot of tears and exaggeration from Gem. Crystal liked their impressions, Gem was like a clingy over the top person, Spark just seems really cool and collected, like one that's older than you but you could still relate to. In fact, Crystal watched Spark trying to not laugh at his mates exaggerated goodbye to Lunar, she treated it like he was about to march into a world war. Spark knew he'd see him again so he wasn't too fussed about it, he gave a casual reply like they were friends.
Anyways, in this time, the duo had been gradually getting closer. They would often have long talks together. Go out into the forest alone for extended periods of time, if they can do it together and alone, they probably did it. It was during one of their extended walks in the forest where they had an unexpected, urgent search and rescue mission to execute.
Lunar walked by the side of Crystal, her chain dangling around her neck, Lunar's around his. They went out into another part of the forest they had not yet been to. They just enjoyed each other's presence and the calm, quiet and verdant surroundings, having close and long conversations. Lunar told Crystal to follow him, he'd seen a cliff not too far from where they were now. Crystal followed, albeit a little anxiously, after their recent encounter with a cliff.
Regardless, they climbed the cliff, it wasn't too high but it was relatively steep on one side. They sat safely in the edge and looked at the forest below, Crystal rest alongside him, wrapping her tail around his. She rested her head on his shoulder and absorbed the view, the sun was in the lower west area, it was a few hours before sunset and the sky was a nice, lively orange colour. They sat there for a while, getting into a deep conversation about their futures, what they think could happen and more specifically, what they wanted to happen.
Whilst Crystal was blind sentence, Lunar bolted upright, his ears flicked to the left and his eyes followed. Crystal was confused and looked up at the Umbreon. "You okay?" She asked softly, Lunar didn't reply for a second, he strained his ears as his royal blue eyes scanned the surroundings below, he kept that posture for another 30 seconds before relaxing. "Yeah... I thought... I heard something..." he replied, Crystal giggled softly and nuzzled his chest, "You're probably just tired," she said, Lunar shook his head
"I could've sworn-" he shit his head to the left again. He listened out again, this time, they both heard it, "HELP!!!" Someone called, they sounded really young, the voice came again "PLEASE! ANYONE!" Lunar looked over at Crystal who blushed out of embarrassment. "Perhaps we're both tired?"
"What're you going to do?"
"They sound like a child, I'm going to find out what's happening."
"But it took us 15 minutes to climb up here, how are we going to get back down in time?"
Lunar realised the flaw in his plan, but something stood out to him. He grinned, knowing Crystal would hate it, "Simple, we slide!" He said with a shrug of his shoulders, Crystal looked at him like he was insane, "D-Down there?" She asked, peering at the steep slant. Lunar grinned, "Well, I'm going down there regardless, you coming?"
"Hmmph. F-Fine."
Lunar and Crystal positioned themselves at the edge, Lunar saw Crystal was hesitating, he grinned slyly and gently slapped a paw on her back. She looked at him, "Lunar... I swear to god. If you push me I'm not cuddling with you for a week."
"I'm fine with that,"
"W-What? Lunar... what're you doing? Lunar!"
Lunar pushed her forward gently, and she started sliding down, Lunar followed suit shortly and laughed the whole way down, feeling the wind blow by his ears. Crystal on the other hand, what not happy... "LUNAR! I SWEAR TO GOD I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" She screamed at him.
They reached the ground in short time and both parties were fine, Lunar slid to a stop, still in a sitting position, mind you. Crystal slid to a stop in a scruffy pile. She raised her head and shot Lunar a death glare, to which he laughed playfully at her "You're cute when you're mad, you know that?" Crystal blushed and looked away, she got up and dusted herself off, "PLEASE!" The cries were getting desperate now, Lunar could tell from the voice they were young, maybe four years old. Lunar signalled to Crystal to stay low and keep quiet, they walked toward the cries and heard talking, there were 3 Mightyena, all surrounding an Eevee, the Eevee kit was trembling, with tears running down her cheeks, Lunar watched, the Eevee tried calling for help once more but her cries were cut short, a wolf drew his claws and scraped them across her cheek, drawing blood.
Lunar felt anger rise inside of him as he stood up, "Be careful," Crystal warned, Lunar turned around and flashed a smile "What could possibly go wrong?"
A Mightyena spoke up, "Screw this, let's just kill her." He held a claw to her throat, ready to slice her valuable tissue. But before he had the chance to, he was hit side on with tackle. The Umbreon shot a dark pulse at him from point blank, fainting the dark wolf instantly. A blue blur burst through the tree line, she jumped and second wolf, clawing at his face, she jumped off him, into the air, and shot an ice beam at him, dealing some damage. Lunar helped out and fired a shadow ball at the wolf, blowing him away. Now one remained, Lunar froze, so did the Mightyena. The Eevee cowered in fear whilst Crystal snuck up behind the Mightyena and took her in her blue paws, she ran back toward the treeline "Shh, you're safe now, relax. I'm not going to hurt you neither is he," She signalled to Lunar "Just stay here, we'll deal with the rest," the Eevee kit nodded and took some deep breaths to calm herself. Lunar recognised the wolf, and the wolf recognised him "You..." he said
"Mhm. Here I am, now what? Going to fail miserably again? Or should we just... skip that and make sure none of this happens again?"
"Grrr shut up!" The wolf ordered, darting forward with tackle, winding Lunar and nocking him away slightly, next the wolf fired a dark pulse, point blank, similar to what Lunar did earlier with the other Mightyena. "No! Wai-"
Lunar's cries were cut short as he was fainted, Crystal screamed "Lunar!" She looked at the Mightyena with hatred in her eyes, "Aww, don't worry, I'll make sure to send you on your way to heaven with him." He said menacingly
Crystal said nothing, she just charged an ice beam, fuelled with anger and hatred toward the wolf. She fired the beam and hit the wolf head on, blasting him toward some trees, a deafening snap was heard and the wolf slumped to the ground. Crystal slid a few inches back from the recoil, she was surprised, she wondered how it was possible for her to produce such a powerful attack at such a young age. She ran over to Lunar, he was fine just fainted, and she couldn't exactly carry him on her back... so she opted to wait. She went to the Eevee kit and reassured her. "You're fine now, you're safe. Where do you live?" Crystal asked, "I... I don't have a home... my parents left me, I hatched by m-myself." She said, Crystal looked sad, "Well, you can stay at my house mkay?"
"T-Thank you, I'm Nova by the way, what's your name?"
"Crystal, the Umbreon from earlier is Lunar."
"Okay, thank you for saving me, I really thought I was going to die there..." the kit ran up to Crystal and latched onto her leg, in an attempt to hug her, the action touched Crystal's heart.
"Not a problem, hows your cheek?"
"It stings but I can handle it," Nova smiled. Crystal saw something move in the distance, she tensed for a second, but relaxed once she saw it was just Lunar. "What'd I miss?"
"Not much, this is Nova. Nova, this is Lunar."
"Hello Lunar! Thank you for saving me!" She ran up to Lunar and held him in the same embrace she held Crystal, Lunar smiled warmly at her actions.
Lunar suggested they walk back, the sun was going to set in a few hours. So, the trio complied, they all headed back to Lunar's den, where Lunar fixed them up a quick round of omelettes to eat. They accepted the food and began eating it, Lunar asked Nova a few questions, "So, Nova... how old are you?"
"I'm four, almost five!" She said excitedly
"How come you're out here all alone?"
"I don't have any parents... or siblings... well, I do but I don't know where or who they are... I hatched alone, all the others had hatched and left me alone."
"Sorry to hear about that."
"It's okay, it doesn't matter much to me, as I have no ties with them, for all I know, they could be horrible Pokémon."
Lunar nodded and put his plate in the sink.
Crystal liked outside, noticing it was sunset soon, she spoke up, "I'm going to take Nova back to mine so she can rest up. Besides, I could do with some training..." she winked at Lunar and he instantly got her remark. He blushed and turned away. Nova just wore a confused look, she was too young and innocent to get Crystal's dirty mindset just yet.
Lunar replied, "Okay, I'm gonna stay here for the night. See you tomorrow right?"
"Definitely." Crystal said
Lunar kissed Crystal goodbye, to her disappointment, they couldn't increase the kiss because they had an audience. Nova just looked at them, completely new to this act.
They broke apart and Lunar walked past Crystal, she couldn't help but pick up a scent of his natural musk, and no... it didn't stink. It was quite the opposite, Crystal felt... allured to it. She felt a sensation in her loins... Oh no...
Crystal recognised the feeling and decided it was in her best interest to get away from Lunar as quickly as possible before anything became a little... unsuitable for young audiences...
"Well, I'll be going now. See you later Lunar!" She said a little nervously,
"Alright, see you! Bye Nova!"
"Bye bye!"
Crystal and Nova walked out of the house, leaving Lunar to do two things. Shower and sleep.
The duo walked briskly to Crystal's house, they both entered and Crystal offered the Eevee some food and drink, to which she happily accepted. Her eyes lit up seeing a big bowl of berries and a glass of water placed in front of her. "Help yourself," She smiled "Look, I need to go to... the shops, real quick, so I'll be gone for a while okay?"
The Eevee nodded "Okay, don't worry I won't go poking around or anything," She smiled, Crystal smiled back, then left the building. But instead of heading to the shops, she went in the direction of her new psychic friend. During the week she'd learnt that Ruby was an expert when it came to anatomy, even more so and eon anatomy. Crystal has gone through this felling once before last year but she hadn't really know what it was. If anyone knew what she was going through it'd be Ruby. Plus, it would be less awkward because she's a female around the same age as her too.
She reached the Espeon's house and knocked on the door. She waited for a few seconds before the door opened, revealing a lavender quadruped. "Hey Ruby, I have something to talk about, it's um... sorta private."
Ruby nodded and opened the door further, she stepped aside, allowing the Glaceon to walk in.
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
"It's... these feelings I get every year around this time... 'there' and every time I'm around Lunar I have these urges, you know to just..."
She trailed off and blushed a little, feeling embarrassed. Ruby nodded,
"Look, I know what you're going through. It's natural, every female goes through it, they call it the heat cycle. What you can do for now is suppress it or find the right time. But don't pressure him into it, he's smart I'll tell you that but he's easily manipulated. Not like you're a bad mon or anything. Look, I'll tell you some things you could do to suppress the feelings."
